(Using a mouse will not do as the mouse movement will stop the screen saver immediately and turn the screen back on.

    works perfect on my T100!
Just a heads-up to folks who are looking to save battery power.

Note that the command "C:\Windows\System32\scrnsave.scr" invokes the screen saver, which just turns the screen black by making the LCD opaque. It doesn't turn off the backlighting for the display, and hence doesn't save any battery power. You can see this for yourself after running the command; the screen appears grey rather than black.

Monitor Off ~ Slashback Software from the post above does turn off the LED backlighting, shutting the monitor off fully. Very nice utility.

I use NirCmd because of its multi-functionality in performing many Windows tasks. The easiest way to use it to turn off the monitor is to place it in a Visual Basic script. Download & extract the free utility and place it in C:\Windows\System32, or anywhere Windows has a path reference to it. Then copy this line:

    WSHShell.Run "nircmd.exe cmdwait 1000 monitor async_off", 0

to an empty text file on your desktop, and save it as "ScreenOff.vbs" (or anything you like, as long as the extension is ".vbs" not ".txt").
Clicking on it will run the script.

    Cheers, John
