Nah. They just use LCD panels from different manufacturers in newer units. Existing units don't benefit from that at all.

Yup, they have to ramp up production and therefore purchase displays from different manufacturers.
The newly released french and italian versions top also the bestseller lists in their countries. On many markets worlwide it hasn't even been released to date.

Interesting reading up on 222. Apparently the GOP driver is the Graphic Output Protocol driver. In effect, it is what drives the panel before the OS loads the graphics driver. Basically used for the boot sequence and the BIOS. Notes on Intel's website also mention it (or at least the VBIOS, which is what GOP replaced, is used for DOS command prompt and some other "outside of windows" graphical driving).

Intel's site mentions there are two options, generic GOP driver or tailored Fast boot driver. I suspect Asus wouldn't be updating a generic driver, and that either they've always used a custom GOP driver, or else it is switching from a generic to a fast boot driver.

Probably too late for anyone on 222 or 223 to try, but I'd be curious if there are any boot time differences between 220 and 222/223. Probably too little to notice, even supposing it was switching from a generic to a fast GOP driver.

The 223 Bios is available on the US support site here Notebooks & Ultrabooks - ASUS Transformer Book T100

I do have a question. Do you need the 222 Bios update before going to the 223 update?

    Thanks
