It may have taken less work to customize their existing backup utility for the 64GB version.

The 64GB version uses part of its overall 64GB for the recovery partition. This is what most Windows machines do. The 32GB version seems to have a more unique setup. It has a separate, additional 8GB for the recovery partition.

I'd love to have something like this for my 32gb version.

This allows a clean copy of Windows 8 to copy the recovery image to a USB drive (even though the option to do so via the normal windows "recovery drive" option is greyed out.

I just got my clean install of Windows 8 Pro working and rebooting properly, so I don't want to test the recovery flash drive yet, but I've backed it up to an image and will do so and update if I have issues with stability. I would be very curious to hear if anyone has attempted a restore yet using this method.
I might just try it with a 500GB external drive I have that is currently empty...just to see if it works...later today sometime...

All the Android Transformers have a utility, (not so much for imaging) that does a superb job of backing up EVERYTHING and can also create an automatic copy of the backup on an SD card. It also is a little easier to restore the OS in Android. At least I think so.

    Yup.

Also have used True Image Home for backup on the PC here and actually found it to be a great alternative as well.
