ASUS Transformer Book T100 versus Dell Venue 8 Pro

Thought this deserved its own thread for those on the fence and deciding.

Dell Venue 8 Pro 32GB 8" Windows 8.1 Tablet - $99 doorbuster for first 20, $199 while stock lasts at the Microsoft Store on 12/9 Monday. Online as well. 12-05-2013 - Slickdeals.net

    Dell docking keyboard not included.

Another negative to the Dell Venue Pro 8 is that it only has a Micro-USB port. You need a Micro-USB to USB OTG cable to connect other peripherals, and when you do you can't charge off of that port. That is a major issue for me.

The 64GB ASUS T100 is the better buy for this caliber machine.

I'm hoping ASUS releases the German keyboard with the 500GB hard drive to the US.

I'm also hoping that they release a version of the keyboard dock with a much larger hard drive and extended battery built in. It would be awesome if they took a page out of Samsung's playbook and made it a replaceable/swappable battery. One can dream and hope.

    I hope ASUS is listening.

not really fair comparison. V8p competes with Lenovo Miix 2 and Toshiba Encore.
T100 competes with Dell V11p and beats it by the price and weight.
    Although I wish T100 had 1080p screen.

Intel was a real Santa to M$, coming out with the cheap yet extremely efficient Bay Trail platform.

All of sudden nobody cares about Android tablets anymore and every Joe and his brother wants a Windows tablet.

A more profound negative IMO is the lack of HDMI. It will cost another $80 to get the adapter and still will not be able to charge at same time.

I have the V11 3770 coming and already have the keyboard. Will be comparing the two devices. It was too late to cancel the V11, so shall use the time to test. The V11 will need to be way better to bridge a $290 price gap. I got both at a discount (V11 12% less and T100 25% less).

T100 rocks, but the display and better build keyboard are nice with the V11. I assume there will be a performance difference between well, but will wait to test. The little extra space and normal size shift key in the keyboard are nice too.

Looking forward to test. If MAME is over 20% faster, that will have some weight for me. Dead or Alive ++ will be my CPU test. It is almost playable on the T100.
