    T100 VT-x support?

Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to enable virtualization? (VT-x) on the T100?. I know the Z3740 processor supports it, but there doesn't seem to be an option to enable virtualization in the BIOS. Am I just out of luck?

I'm attempting to use the Genymotion android emulator with ARM translation. The x86 portion works fine, but if I try to fire up an app that need ARM translation it crashes. Thanks!

Not positive but you my need Windows Pro to do virtualization. The T100 comes with Windows Standard.

I don't think VT-x will be involved in ARM translation. Could be something silly like running out of memory or an unsupported instruction?

Genymotion uses VirtualBox, and allocates 512MB of system memory for the VM. I don't think memory is an issue even with only 2GB of system memory as the VM isn't requesting all that much.

I can run the ARM translated apps fine on my Core 2 Quad machine, unless I disable VT-x in which case the apps crash the same way as on the T100.

Genymotion also used to require VT-x or AMD-V support when they were still including the ARM translation. They've since dropped ARM translation, and the virtualization requirement. Those are the two reasons I believe the VT-x support is critical, and the T100 shows no signs of it being enabled. ASUS being a motherboard manufacturer would lead me to think the T100 BIOS would be a little more mature in supporting all of the capabilities of the hardware in the machine.

For the problem, I'm afraid that this model doesn't support VT-x.We don't plan to enable this function recently.

In my experience, a platform that does not inlude a knob in BIOS to enable VT, requires a hacked bios. I had an Acer timeline laptop with the same issue, and that's the only way I got it working. The problem with hacked BIOS is that they violate copyright, so forums like this will not allow links. You also have to be very careful of your source. I have never heard of a BIOS based malware but it's possible.

Yep. I advise against using hacked bios to avoid malware. Bios based malware is most dangerous cuz u can't get rid of it unless u flash to official bios.

Others have said that Bluestacks works to run Android apps.

I gather it's not as full featured and can tend to have lag in fast moving games, but if your goal is run productivity Android apps, it should work.

I sure as heck hope that Eclipse and the Android emulator run on this thing. I got it setting here but haven't tried installing that yet. I bought it specifically to do Android a programming from anywhere.
