I ran bluestacks on a laptop grade I5 3rd gen. Gaming is out of the question since it seems to do all GPU work in emulation. It's very slow. For producivity apps, it's not too bad. I also found that about 25% of apps I tried would not run. The other thing I don't like about is that there is no play store. You have to side load everything. They give you tools to make that easy, but it really depends on your having a companion Android device with which to use it. Bluestacks also lags behind in Android version support. All in all, I would rather have something similar to the virtualized, stand alone Android device the OP describes.
