    Cracked screen

    Hi all.

Had my T100 3 days and the screen has cracked around where the tablet meets the keyboard dock and I can categorically state the crack was not me being heavy handed, the tablet being dropped etc :-(

Thankfully the retailer I bought it from agreed and has exchanged it with no hassle but from reading around the web apparently there have been similar problems in the past with similarly designed Asus tablets and docks so hope this just a one off the t100 although amount of flex between the screen and the plastic back makes me wonder if it is...

Overall though the T100 as a device is amazing and performs brilliantly as a desktop replacement hooked up to an external full HD TFT which is what mine will be doing primarily during office hours.

WOW! how lucky maybe you should buy a lottery ticket.
Glad your retailer was willing to take the hit, I doubt ASUS is going to take the damaged TAB back and reimburse them.

The screen must have been faulty from the factory and / or the hinge mechanism was too tight so put too much strain around the screen specifically at this point hence the arc like crack that appeared. I had the thing in it's dock, hooked up to an external full HD TFT about 90% of the time I had it so I was prepared to fight all the way for this if needed.

I have had 3 tablets, countless mobile phones and never had a screen go on me before so just be careful with yours guys as a cracked screen is a very hard thing to make a judgement call on for a retailer.

I'm in the UK and can't find any mention of that here but if you are "within the United States and Canada" then that sounds brilliant. Wow.

Except every time I've tried to register my machine at that site it comes back with "We are unable to process your request".

That's strange. I registered my Asus Zenbook and T100 with no problems. You might want to try a different browser.

Internet Explorer was a pain when I tried to register so I made Chrome default then tried again and it worked fine.
