cuddlebear, I know it's been since 2/11/15 you posted but it seems reading through this thread again from your post, that no one has answered for your issue.

I'm not sure but if you "relabeled" your 8GB partition to D:, that may be why it failed for you. Drive D: would be the microSD card slot or the keydock 500GB HDD.

You'd be better off using perhaps a high letter such as W, X, Y or Z.

    IT WORKED!!!
    Thx rickscheller

Little bit odd that a higher letter is so important. After formating it I changed letter to D:
    microSD slot has letter S:
So D: was always available on my system.

P.S: Writespeed little bit slow.. :/ only 2MB/s. Readingspeed seems to be fine: ~18MB/s.

Hmmm... that's odd... my microSD slot is labeled as D:
I don't have the 500GB dock drive, so I don't know what that one typically is labeled.

    Glad you got it though.

Well.... "unlocking" the 8gb USB drive using the Phison software was NOT a good idea. It worked for a few months and now the drive have failed. The device and still present in DISKPART but with a capacity of 0 bytes. The Phison software don't work anymore on the drive and formatting it is impossible.

Curriously, I just unlocked the drive and put a static (movies) files on it. But it was crypted with BitLocker.

Still. be carefull if you try to unlock the drive

Anarethos, you were right :/ My Drive is gone. Same problem you had described. Did use this drive for OneCloud and now nothing can be stored, because of the capacity of 0 bytes.
So, I would warn all other users, not to use this drive. In my opinion it's just a recovery drive that can be rewritten not often :/

    Wink Wiping write-protected 8gb recovery partition on 32gb t100ta - here's how i did it

SOLVED, FINALLY! Write protection removed!!!! Are you driving yourself crazy trying to disable write-protection on the bonus 8gb "USB" drive containing a hidden recovery partition on the 32gb T100TA? Here are some methods I tried that DIDN'T work in Windows 10: Using diskpart to change attributes of disk 1 and or volume 4; Using Easus partition manager; using MagicStick to boot into Linux or Android, in order to edit partitions from a non-windows OS; taking ownership/changing security properties; virtually removing/reinstalling device and driver from within device manager; editing registry to create, and then modify storagepolicies key and USBSTOR entries; PNY software for fixing corrupted actual usb drives, and probably a few other methods as well. After hours of screwing around with this, I was ready to give up, when I discovered a little freeware program on a skeevy looking Russian website, that actually succeeded where everything else had failed. It is called Phison Format and Restore, and the executable, once extracted, shows up as Restore-v3.13.0.0.exe. Running the "format" command appeared to fail halfway through, but then I ran the "restore" tab, and it worked, after which I was able to run format again, successfully, and from that point on, all the normal Windows tools worked. Obviously Phison is a solution for people who don't value that factory restore image and want to wipe it out in order to gain an extra 8gb of space - it may even modify the firmware of the 8gb chip somehow, so use it at your own risk, but if you despaired of ever finding anything to unlock and reclaim that partition, this little program is your holy grail.
