how does this system play so many newish games without a graphics card

like the topic asks how can this computer play newer games with the graphics power it has. it does just have intel hd on board doesn't it? i tried canirunit.com and 99% of the games say i can't play them because of the intel hd graphics.

of course by 99% of games i mean 99% of games that should take a bit of graphical power to run them not 99% of all games listed on the site.

I believe that site/service compares your device specifications to the minimum requirements of a game. Most games never include integrated graphics cards in their requirements since most gamers have dedicated ones. The test is also seeing a very low CPU speed compared to this minimum requirements since it doesn't account for the turbo boost speed of newer low voltage chips.

Long story short. You can probably play most things that ask for a 2 or 3 year old (nvidia 400/500) dedicated card without running into any problems.

Edit: I did a little research since I'm not a gamer and took a look at the fame crysis 2 released in 2011. http://www.game-debate.com/games/ind...ame=Crysis%202. As you can see the game asks for a 2007 era desktop CPU based on 65nm technology. (Your bay trail CPU is much more efficient at 22nm)

While your Intel integrated graphics are not comparable to today's dedicated cards, the game asks for a 2006 and 2009 era nvidia card for it's minimum and recommended requirements.

First of all, canirunit is a nice indication, but still can be quite inaccurate, especially when checking for compatibility of these kinds of devices.

One of the reasons that it can run newer games is that newer games seem to scale much better in terms of requirements, many games nowadays are optimized for Intel HD graphics, just because of the sheer amount of users having an Intel HD. That, and this SoC seems crazy powerful for what it is and its cost.

so as long as the game doesn't require more than 2 gigs of ram it can probably play it. and no i don't mean probably as in go and buy it and take a huge risk.

The t100 does have a graphics 'card' in that it has dedicated hardware for processing graphics as well as a small amount of dedicated vram. This allows the system to meet the requirements of many games that you would not expect to function on a device of this form factor and price.
Using the T100TA 64GB as my primary PC since 2014

It is quite powerful (Z3775 processor - Asus T100TA) I have to agree other then the stuff which we had back in the day , it is really something for something this small.

CPU: 1.46 Ghz - Turbo Boost 2.4 Ghz (4 cores)
Graphics: Base 311 Mhz - Turbo Boost 778 Mhz - VRAM: 1030 MB

ARK | Intel® Atom? Processor Z3775 (2M Cache, up to 2.39 GHz) - for more details

WOW! So i guess this is possibly better than the Radeon HD 8330. (At least in Clock and VRAM).
Now i am almost convinced in buying the T100.

    No.

Expect the A4-5000's HD8330 to have about twice the framerate of the Z3775's HD Graphics in most modern games.

AnandTech | The Bay Trail Preview: Intel Atom Z3770 Tested

The Z3375 has a purported 15% improvement in GPU performance over the Z3370. So add that percentage to the Z3770's FPS in the benchmarks above.

    GL/DX T-Rex HD:
    HD8330: 37.0 FPS
    Z3775: 17.3 FPS
    Z3370: 15.0 FPS
