[GUIDE] Had WiFi, then lost it, possible solution! (from Asus!)

    Posted by ASUS support

Step 1: Press Windows Key + X for Windows mobility center then select "Device manager" >
Step 2: Locate "Network adapters" >
Step 3: Double click the wireless adapter (usually has "wireless" in the name) >
Step 4: Click "Driver" tab >
Step 5: (IMPORTANT) Click "Uninstall" and ensure check box on following window is left unchecked >
    Step 6: Restart device >
Step 7: After restart press Windows Key + I to enter Charm settings for network connections >
Step 8: Click network connections and select the appropriate connection >
Step 9: Uncheck the "Connect automatically" check box if necessary >
Step 10: Click "Connect" and enter network security key

We're seeing where you also mentioned that you tried to update the drivers. Please be sure to use the drivers from our support site at www.support.asus.com to complete the update. To have the drivers updated please carry out the following steps:

Select the OS in the drop down menu corresponding to what you are using on the unit.
After selecting your OS, click wireless then follow these steps for the first driver file listed in the drop down options.

Step 1: Click "Global" ( not "Global DLM" ) for the driver to be installed and save folder to flashdrive
Step 2: Transfer zipped folder to ASUS notebook and save to desktop
Step 2: Locate folder on desktop, right click it and click "Extract All" >
Step 3: Open extracted folder and run "Setup" application file (The setup file may be located by looking for a file labelled as "Application" in the "Description" column in the window) >
    Step 4: Restart device

Once the notebook has restarted go ahead and try to connect to your available networks. If you're still experiencing the issue after these steps then please feel free to email us at socialsupportus@asus.com and we'll see how best we can have the issue resolved.

Aren't those first steps the procedure to revert the WiFi drivers to the Microsoft ones delivered with Windows?

Not if the driver has been updated.
