[FAQ] How long is MS Office valid on the T100ta?

I know the Asus t100ta comes with the student version of MS Office, however, I am not sure if it is only valid for one year or is it a permanent copy that does not require yearly renewals.

    Thanks

Yeah, you get a OEM copy of MS Office Home & Student 2013... So the only limitation is you can't transfer it to another system later but it's good for the life of your machine...

It's tablets that get the Office 365 deal that get one free year and then you have to pay subscription fee but those are for tablets that don't fit the deal that MS has for the MS Office Home & Student 2013... which is namely W8 tablets like the T100 that are 10.8" or smaller...

While tablets that are larger or fall under the discount version of Windows 8.1 that sets Bing as default or the free version of Windows that sells on tablets priced $250 or lower that will get the Office 365 deal instead...

Though, it also depends where and who you get your tablet from as some companies set up their own little deals, including a different version of Office, etc. but what I listed is the general deal from MS itself and is what most will offer...

Mind, if you're a user of Outlook that it's not included with the MS Office Home & Student 2013...

The lack of Outlook constitutes a second limitation, in my opinion.

Unless you're really intertwined with Outlook as a client, there are other mail client apps that work well on the T100 as well as using a web browser. Of course you can always purchase Outlook to install on your T100 or install a "full featured" version of Office.

    I basically agree.

That said...I upgraded to MS Office Professional 2013 early this year (which includes Outlook) to allow consistency in how I manage and use e-mail across multiple PCs and mobile devices. The fact that the T100TA can run Office Professional 2013 at such a fast and efficient speed has been very impressive.
