    1. Use brightness function on Windows 8 - allows you to change the brightness on the fly. Also in power options, allows you to change brightness on battery/power and different for "light sensor". So.... bright in daytime, dimmer at night :-)
    2. Firefox. Easily allows to change between "touch" (keyboard pops up in the right places, etc) and desktop
    3. Get a "USB on the Go" connector (or whatever they are called. 5. Allows you to charge phone via the micro-USB
    4. Get some glass cleaner :-)

One further tip/trick. IF you have issues with Metro/touch/Windows UI IE11 with hung page loads when going back on a page, change your browser settings.

By default IE11 is set to reload a page "automatically", so each time you visit a page, for the first time or the 20th time, it reloads the entire page. Instead, change it to "Everytime I start IE", so that way it'll properly cache previously visited pages and only reload them when you open IE for the first time. Also pages can have a flag set in their HTTP that forces a page load as well (this is common on frequently updates websites, like forums), IE will respect that flag, so no worries there.

Go to the desktop IE (after force closing metro IE11, drag it from the left side down the to bottom and hold there for a few seconds until windows flips the pane around. That will kick it from memory), under Tools->internet options->Browsing History->Advanced you have your page load options.

Since changing it yesterday I've only noticed one or two hung page loads when reloading a page, maybe 1 in 50 or less, instead of the 1 in 5-8 it used to do. Also going back a page is about 4x faster on average to reload the page (And I am on a 75/35 FIOS connection and very fast Wifi).

another one, to check Bios version the "oldskool way" :

open Dos prompt (enter in searchbar: CMD and press ENTER) and type: systeminfo (and then press ENTER)

note: this will also list your network cards directly and what wifi connection you are using , your ip-address, dhcp server so its pretty handy

T100TA can use external mic like those on phone's headsets. I had plugged in my guitar and it works. Now I only have to reduce audio delay. You have to use 4pin jack.
    Wiring is tip/left, 1st ring/right, 2nd ring/ground, sleeve/mic. The same as iphone uses.

you can long-press the taskbar with your finger and then select "show desktop" ...easier that trying to press the bottom right end corner button ;-)

    Show desktop touch shortcut
Another trick I did not found here...

When using the just keyboard or touchpad you can minimize all the programs of the desktop mode by pressing windows+m or clicking on the right-button corner, but it doesn't work when working with just the tablet and touchscreen.Maybe because the right-button at the corner is too much tiny to be usefull.

So here is the procedure to create a shortcut to make this. I preffer second option, it looks great on the bar.

Changing the font in metro/modern IE11
    1. Open regedit
    2. HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Settings
    3. Change 'Always Use My Font Face" decimal value to 1.
    4. In modern IE, go to settings
    5. 'Options' and scroll to the bottom, and access 'fonts and encoding'
    6. Mess around.

I got annoyed with the cleartype rendering, so I found this stuff in the registry. I changed mine to Segoe UI Semibold, which works pretty well; not perfect but pretty close.

Additionally for the desktop, I use this free program called MacType, which is very customizable in terms on font rendering, and is definitely worthy of checking out.

Another nice one is f.lux, and one can download it from www.justgetflux.com
It's freeware, and it changes your display's colour temperature based on sunrise and sunset. It should be noted that there are some decent colour temperature options, and that the program can be disabled for colour-accurate sensitive work.

It has been around for many years, but was finally updated recently.
