I have researched this and the pre-installed Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Pro is what I ended up with.

No slow-down and it seems to be doing a good job.

The best protection is experience, common sense and not visiting websites that are potentially suspect!

After using for many years Avira i tried to use it with this but...... lags too much. I ended up doing a research and see what uses the minimal and installed Avast for now. First impressions: detected some bug in Windows (??) so it's still on experience...

Bought a T100T 2 weeks ago and getting a bit fed up with having to sort out niggles, the latest of which is that AVAST Internet Security and Norton 360 (previous comments noted!) both crash the tablet forcing a full factory reset (blue screen with Norton; black with AVAST so a full house). Several restarts later in each case and I finally get the options page where I can reset the machine.

Support from either company is the usual flannel so just wondered if anyone is having the same problem. I checked system requirements for both products and my Asus seems fine, assuming that I have Windows 8.1 full version (AVAST say their software won't run on 8.1 Light or RT?).

For info., it's a 32GB, running on Firmware 214 out of the box. Any help much appreciated.....

Update your BIOS to the latest ASUS website approved version (2.23 I believe) then do a system restore before you shed anymore tears.

Been running Bitdefender IS for a few weeks, no performance differences from Win defender, but way better detection rate.

Thanks OP. I've been hovering around some of the threads on updating the BIOS but like some, have been a little concerned as to why ASUS were not giving reasons for changing it. Plus, until yesterday, I couldn't find 2.20 or 2.23 on the official site(s) but they are there now.

I think I've reached the point where an update will save my sanity!

    Thanks to other contributors also.

Windows Defender. Nothing on this device is critical, so if I hose the system, I'll restart no fuss.
