Angry Swiping to Metro by Accident

I generally use my Asus T100 with the keyboard attached, which means often using the trackpad.

Unfortunately, this results in a large number of accidental swipes/taps to the Metro interface which is always a jarring and annoying shock, not to mention the fact that the Metro interface is irrelevant for 99.9% of everything I do. I don't even know what I'm doing to accidentally bring up those annoying tiles.

Is there any way to prevent such accidental swipes?

Well WCLA. I think @Asus_Usa needs to do their homework, particularly with a t100 on front of them.

There are two separate methods to disable some of the track pad gestures. They may not eliminate all of them but I have experience very few annoyances since turning some off. Particularly the 3 finger combinations which are inadvertently activated.

In the desktop Taskbar (accessed by clicking the little arrow by the Taskbar icons) there is a strange little icon that is supposed to represent the touchpad. Double click that and it brings up the Asus gesture settings. There are a few options in there namely the 3 finger modes.

Second options menu is located in the windows 8 metro settings panel under PC and Devices // corners and edges. This has options for turning off switching between apps by gesture and showing charms etc.

Hope that helps with some of your problems.

    Ok, thank you!

Some of those things I've done, but the Metro interface still somehow rears its ugly head at seemingly random times. Hopefully I will teach myself to stop cursing out loud when this happens, lol.

Well I agree with GT, Asus_USA needs to do their homework, Asus's own Smart Gesture, actually provides the ability to disable such edge switching in-between Metro Apps and as such, which I had an annoyance with them during the start as well, these can disable the same. Open Asus Smart Gesture, and see what all the options you can tweak upon your liking, the below one's are the most annoying one's if you keep swiping left/right and vice versa. If you disable the Windows metro annoyance's it might not properly disable them, Keep in mind the manufacturers tend to allow such disabling actively from their respective software's of the Track-Pad they provide, in our case it's the Asus Smart Gesture, by default alot of them are active and On.

Where to find Asus Smart Gesture? Press the small arrow on the Right Side bottom of your taskbar next to the notification icon's > Double Click on the Asus Smart Gesture.

Have a look, there are plenty of options to tweak there, and plenty of things to disable/enable especially those annoying one's like you mentioned. All the best & Goodluck! !

Perhaps you could tell me through this forum what, exactly, I'm doing that is causing the Metro interface to pop up? I'd rather not start an email thread.

I've now done both of those things and the Metro interface is still popping up at weird times. (Less other weird annoyances, though.)

I think that what's happening is that, despite avoiding the lower left corner of the trackpad, I am accidentally moving the cursor to the bottom left with repeated downward/leftward strokes on OTHER areas of the trackpad. Then, I accidentally touch the trackpad or it thinks "click" when I mean "scroll" and then I'm in for the jarring switch.

This shaky hypothesis, though, does not explain why such problems have never happened to me on any other devices, though... just the Asus T100. This problem appears, to me, to be device specific.

Some tinkering confirms this. I can, with downward/leftward strokes, get into dreaded tile world using only the TOP RIGHT PART OF THE TRACKPAD. Of course the jarring switch happens by accident quite often because the left-click portion of the trackpad overlaps with where the start menu button is. How annoying!

    It gets worse.

I tried to fix this issue by moving the whole taskbar to the left side of the computer screen. But, to my astounded dismay, this just created two(!?!!) start menu buttons, one of which is permanently visible at the top-left and the other which is just lurking in the bottom-left.

Who the Hell at Microsoft approved this? LOL

Now... is there a way to actually move the start button or am I stuck forever with it in the worst possible location?
