USB hub that can work as a charger

I am doing an automation project involving a T100 for GUI. I need the T100 to work without the dockingstation and thus without the extra USB connection. This leaves me with only one USB that i have to use for connection with the Arduino and for charging the T100.

My first idea was to use a USB hub, with an external power supply. So i bought one USB hub branded Trust with a 2 Amp power supply (same specification as the original power supply). This worked for data transfer, but did not charge the T100. So i figured that maybe the powersupply wasn't as advertised. So i cut the wire and plugged it directly to a computer PSU putting put 5v @ 20 Amps. It powered and charges everything else, except for my T100.

Does anybody know of a way to split the USB into more USB connection, while still being able to charge the T100 (and not using the docking keyboard!)? Any idea/help is appreciated.

    Sincerely Kristoffer.

You need to study up on USB and micro USB options for supplying power as well as allowing data exchange. I believe the industry, for whatever reason, doesn't allow/promote this option although I've read there are "tricks that can be done" to the connector and wiring to perhaps make it work.

So i opened a USB mini B male cable and soldered two wires to the ground and voltage line. I then connected this to my PSU 5v@ 20 amps. It will charge my LG Optimus on a slow charge, but not the T100. How do these electrical things decide if they can be charged slow, fast or not at all? Do they measure the resistance in the wires? I have tried (by accident) to hotwire a PSU and it will weld two wires together, so there are definitely enough power. There must be some circuitry that decides how many amps the device are allowed to draw from the USB and this depends on....?

Aha as i expected... there are different power profiles for each device and the USB power source has to be recognizable by the T100, before it will let it supply the power to it. You can read more here:

I am still on a lookout for a USB hub (with external power), that can charge the T100. Anyone?

Now you're getting an education. Good info in that link you provided although the authors inability to charge his T100 with any charger other than stock doesn't agree with my personal experience. I've used my Android phone charger and while it does charge the T100, it needs to be in sleep and even then it's very slow. I also recently received a 3.0A PWR+ charger with fixed cable that charges my T100 while in use. The stock charger/USB cable will only actually charge if the T100 is in sleep, it won't charge while in use.
