Is there a power drain thread somewhere?

I find that - randomly - leaving the T100 overnight docked, not connected to power, leads to the thing being dead the next morning. For some reason, it turns on over night and will not turn off, leading to its turning itself off when the battery is dead.

This seems to be random - Sunday night it was fine and I went to bed with the battery nearly full. Last night I went to bed with the battery showing 85% and this morning it was dead. I can't think of a difference between the two.

I have unchecked the box for power properties on the keyboard in device manager; I have set the thing to sleep after 2 minutes off power and 5 minutes on power.

    What am I missing?

Thanks for quick reply - I will try that, but I thought the point of the transformer concept was that I should be able to shut the lid and have it instant on after a sleep? Or should I treat it like a regular pc and shut down each and every time?

    Standard question:
Did you updated bios to version 2.20?

Few days ago I had a problem with Windows Update. During the night computer started installing updates but it stuck on 'Reboting, please wait' and drained battery to 0%. Next day I saw that computer is dead, I recharged it and same thing happend second time but during the day. I connected a charger and after very loooong time of 'Reboting, please wait' it finally rebooted and installed updates. Now everything works fine for me.

    Just as a side note...

The instructions for doing updates includes a recommendation to always have the T100 connected to the charger.

Yeah, but how should I know about the update? I left it unplugged and in the meantime update has started installing itself

You can set things up to get update notifications but then proceed when you choose to proceed.

I think qbasob's point is that Windows defaults to doing its own downloads and updates. If the machine is incapable of handling this (either because of a bug in Windows or because Asus has goofed with the design of the T100) the the user is always going to lose. (Unless the user knows about how to disable automatic updates: the problem is that Windows strongly encourages the user to accept the default setting).

I am trying the machine as tablet only at the moment. Certainly, it seems to charge far more quickly without being docked - but let's see.
