    Hi,

Anyone experiencing too-zoomed image on webcam? Can't find any settings for the webcam on the PC.

    Thanks for the help.

I've got a weird issue with my T100's webcam where the image is too zoomed in when doing Skype videocalls. Using the webcam as a standalone camera gives normal shots, but when used for chatting it's zoomed in and one's face practically fills the frame. Can't find any settings for the webcam on the PC.

    Thanks for the help.
If you're using Skype...there's a setting for image size within that application.

In terms of the T100...the default size has never been an issue with Skype calls here - used it perhaps 20 times in the past month already.

    found them. thanks.

BTW, since your t100 seems to be working perfect, I was just wondering if your charger gets hot. Mine does even if I have the tablet turned off while charging.

not smoking hot, and not simply warm either. just uncomfortably hot.
oh yikes, this calls for a new thread.

    Glad things worked out.

The AC charger gets warm depending on the duration of the charge. Obviously if someone lets the battery get below 40% for example...it takes longer to charge and the unit will warm up more than if it's just getting a "top off" charge". But in general, it gets reasonably warm but not hot.

i just found out someone in the forum had already posted this exact same gripe about the zoomed in webcam, with the oovoo app. my guess is it's a camera codec pack update by windows I downloaded last december 16, but since theres skype anyway, i'll just leave that alone.

Yup - different apps can use different video/audio codecs.

Hi all, new guy here. I have the same issue. Can you tell me where is that option? I don't see anything in skype camera settings. I mean there is a zoom slider, but it's zoomed out fully yet the picture is still magnified. Thank you.

EDIT. Video in metro/modern skype is fine. It's just the desktop one I'm having problem with.

Yeah, but it still bummers me. I did find a workaround of some sort though. I've installed app called manycam. You can take pictures or videos with it, and it also creates virtual cam you can use with Skype without any zoom issues. Maybe someone will find it useful.

    Hello,

(Posted this on another thread before).

Indeed by default the camera looks zoomed and it has poor quality on skype calls and some other apps. It happens to me out of the box also. What I did notice though, is that in the windows (8.1) camera application the camera image looks perfectly fine and zoomed out at the correct level.

Upon further digging I noticed that there are two video capture filters (WDM Video Capture Filter (Windows)) used, different for each of them. The windows camera application uses vidcap.ax (USB Video Class Driver Overview (Windows Drivers)), whether Skype uses the ksproxy.as (Filters Used with the Video Capture Devices (Windows Drivers)) filter. Now I don't know much (at the time of writing this ) about how to handle which filter is used but what I can tell that the DirectShow filer used by Skype gives zoomed in image regardless of the application used. I guess that the issue comes from the input resolution that the filter takes as a default, I am yet to identify where this can be changed.

As one solution to this problem I installed a 3rd party app., interesting that I found exactly the same one as the user before posted ManyCam free virtual webcam effects software (the freeware version works fine as the camera is 1.2M) that constructs a virtual camera and which allows me to specify the input resolution. This way, you can select the virtual camera in skype and enjoy conversations without zoomed images.

If someone has an answer on how to modify the filter settings, via registry or otherwise I am opened to suggestions.
