Ok, got it to boot from thumb drive with "ubuntu-16.04-desktop-amd64" installed on it. But doesn't go live when you hit try in menu. Tried the "nomodeset" instead of splash. I hope someone that knows more than me can figure it out.

It works fine for me, although I have not tried linux. I used the microsoft page to make an installable windows 10. I used the full-size port on the screen. I did not try the port on the keyboard unit, since I feared that might require some extra driver cleverness to go via the connections between screen and keyboard.

I suspect that everybody that has done a fresh windows installation has been able to boot from the USB port.

Finally have Desktop, wifi (from dongle), did updates now after a few minutes system freezes and have to hold power button down to shut it off. Still no joy with screen rotation. Any ideas out there?

I have started over and installed lastest build of Ubuntu 16.10. I'm stuck at trying new display managers I only have lightdm installed. Does anyone know how to install multiple display managers to try (install from command line). I would like to try lxdm and maybe others, but even gdm doesn't seem to be installed.

Now this is getting real interesting...

Me I'd love being able to install a slimmed down Lubuntu with obenbox/tint2 on top that runs "natively" on the T100HA. I have a 6 year old Netbook - a 1000HE set up like that and that one behaves well enough to make me drool when I think of having it on the 100HA.

I actually toyed with a VirtualBox install - after all there's plenty of RAM to run a lightweight Linux install like that, but I never really moved past the actual OS install...
