    Linux Install Directions

    Hi There!

This thread should be stickied soon, and it should host a series of posts going through the steps of installing Linux, in various versions, on the Asus Transformer Book T100.

To start off with, there's the one posted by John Wells: Ubuntu (or other Linux) on the Asus Transformer Book T100 | John Wells,

There's also one posted by another John: Ubuntu on Asus T100

We'll try to get the other people who've succeeded to post their directions here!

Thanks for the idea for these threads Jason, & for encouraging more folks to join us here on our very friendly forum.

Welcome to all new members. Can I please draw your attention to our Forum Guidelines (linked in my signature below) & also ask that you ensure that, other than the John Wells link above, any & all links to other sites are only to reputable, trustworthy locations and not to other T100 forums unless they are appropriate such as Microsoft, XDA, Ubuntu Forum (or any other official Linux distro forum).

Thanks all & good luck with your endeavours.

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

So this was almost a month ago and no directions still on how to do anything minus the ones link... And from what I have found on Google, there doesn't seem to be any ground breaking discoveries either. Kind of stinks, being able to run linux from a USB drive would add a whole other world of value to these already great devices. Hopefully something will still come of this.

Yeah... I started these forum posts while another guy started a Google+ page.

In my mind, Google+ is harder to follow in terms of tech support for something like this, but the guy who started Google+ has been very active and is doing his best to corral all the up-to-date info. If this link works, you can go here for more updates: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communit...03024346186936

Are you missing any functionality? I've had the t100 for going on two years but find I use it very little because windows 8.1 frustrates me so much and it's so slow. Would love to have Mint on it.

Can't boot my T100TAF from ANY live USB drive - and believe me, I've been booting quite a few different makes of machine with live Linux USB drives for at least 5 years.
I followed the instructions to the letter as in the blog above and all it does is go back to Windows.
I've tried with Linux Mint 17 both 32 bit and 64 bit, also Ubuntu 14.0.3 both 32 bit and 64 bit. Nothing.
Doesn't matter whether Secure boot is on or off, or whether the bootable USB drive is set as 1st boot or not, or whether I press Esc on restart to bring up the boot device menu and select the USB.
    Nothing.

And yes all these versions boot in another machine...

I have similar problem. I want to install Ubuntu. I create bootable USB several times, using Rufus and others. Last attempt which I tried [1]. I am able to enter menu, I choose bootting from USB, but nothing happens, Windows normally starts. Doesn't anyone has any idea what could be wrong?

I put on flash disk bootia32.efi (1), it help, I can boot now from USB. But it ends with bash-like console where I can do nothing (keyboard doesn't work).
