How to restore Windows after Ubuntu Install - help please

Is there a way to do a factory reset after losing Windows? I was doing this:

Ubuntu (or other Linux) on the Asus Transformer Book T100 | John Wells

and accidentally chose the option to install Ubuntu totally, which wiped windows. I do see that the restore disk is still visible, though.

The f9 key isn't doing anything but causing glitches. The f2 key takes me to the UEFI menu, which is like a BIOS, but there's no restore option there that I can see...

    Welcome to the forum Jason

Interesting referenced guide thread above. Doesn't look as if Linux on the T100 is easy at the moment.

    Which is a shame...

Anyway, we have this section on the forum which is the best place for your post, so you now have your own thread (rather than buried in another) & hopefully someone might jump in with some assistance.

A simple approach (at a complete guess) might be to reformat & reinstall Windows from an external drive perhaps.

    All the best

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

Your opinion matters. But should you disagree - please try not to be disagreeable

The restore disk is still present; I can see it in the ubuntu file browser...

I tried figuring out a way to copy it to a USB to make it bootable, but there's no ISO. There's an install.wim file that's 5.9 GB, but nothing executable...

I was really hoping the BIOS would allow me to access this recovery drive and just start from scratch, but I'm not seeing anything. That's why I was hoping there was a different key to press to get to a BIOS screen to the the install...

few thoughts, this may not help at all.

(Edit - You could download a evaluation venison of Windows 8.1 in iso format.)

you could create a boot-able windows 8.1 usb key. Just remember to change the boot order from within (F2) bios screen, so it boots your usb device.
instructions here: *edit* then install Windows 8.1

    or

because you want to use the recovery partition, you could create a boot-able windows 8.1 or windows 7 usb key as above, and copy imagex onto it.

imagex is a command line program that can extract .wim files, use this to extract the install.wim file onto a partition.
once extracted, windows probably won't boot, so you need run bcdboot in order to install the windows boot manger or boot files.

(e: being your recovery partition and f: being the installation partition for windows)
    example: imagex /apply e:\sources\install.wim 1 f:\
example: bcdboot f:\Windows (bcdboot f:\Windows /s f:\ if you are going to try and dual boot Linux, using Linux boot manager)

(There is also a linux alternative in wimlib-imagex)

this is speculation, as I haven't tried ether of these approaches myself on my asus transformer, but it is probably where I'd start if in your situation.

    maybe that helps.
