    SD card reader

    Hi guys,

Just purchased a T100 for my parents yesterday. Returned the first one as it would not turn on after 8+hrs of fully charging so on to my second unit. No problems thus far with the second unit and loving it.

My parents would like to download their SD camera card onto the T100 while travelling. I've tried to find a micro USB to SD card reader adapter for the T100 but to no avail. I can see one for other Asus transformers but not the T100 eg:
Amazon.com: ASUS External Card Reader for Transformer-Series Tablets: Computers & Accessories

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    thanks.

    Welcome to the forum

They didn't do a very goods job of explaining how that reader connects. Any USB card reader should work.

Use the regular sized USB connector on the keyboard to attach a standard SD SDHC card reader or get a USB-to-MicroUSB connector for $1 to use the slot on the tablet.

    Thanks guys.

I use a wireless mouse so the USB port is already taken up with the mouse receiver.
I have just purchased a generic micro USB card reader so will see if that works. Alternatively I just worked out that my parents could use a micro SD card in an SD adapter in their camera and then just put the micro SD in the micro SD card slot. Will see which option works best and that they prefer.

Another option you could look at is to plug a micro usb to standard USB adapter cable into the micro usb port on the tablet portion of the T100. Something as such.

Then plug a standard USB to SD card adapter into that cable.

I'm also pretty certain someone makes a micro usb to SD card reader also. As such.

You do know the micro usb port where you charge the tablet is also a USB 2.0 port right?

Personally, for this same use, I use a standard USB to SD card reader adapter and plug that into the keyboard's USB 3.0 port. The reason I don't have the same problem of my wireless mouse occupying the USB port, is because I use a Bluetooth wireless mouse which doesn't require a receiver to be plugged into a USB port. So you could look into purchasing a Bluetooth mouse also. Then in those events something else is occupying my USB 3.0 port, say for example I'm trying to copy pictures from my SD card to a larger USB HDD, I have a USB hub available as such.

There's a lot of different options that can be used for what you are trying to achieve. I would have to say, looking for a micro-sD card to SD card adapter will be the most difficult solution to find.
