    Asus T303UA Issues

    I only had my Asus T303UA (i7/8GB RAM) for less than 10 months and have been constantly experiencing a multitude of problems including:

    - trackpad skipping, moving randomly and basically becoming totally unusable;
    - the right sound speaker is not working / making cracking noise;
    - the laptop overheats regularly despite having the loudest fans I have ever heard;
    - "blue screen" errors occurring daily;
    - the touchscreen becomes unresponsive after a couple of hours of use;
    - battery life well below 2hrs even with modest use;

    All of these have been manifesting over those few months. I have attempted to mitigate the problems somewhat - installing ASUS and Windows updates regularly, bought an external mouse and keyboard etc. But I think there has come a point where this product is practically unusable. After spending nearly 1,000 on it (bought from eBuyer in the UK), I am utterly disappointed.

    I just thought sharing this with others on this forum just in case someone has had any luck sorting out at least some of the issues above - I do not really feel like spending another pile of money on yet another laptop so soon after buying this one...

    Although the offer is appreciated, what would be more helpful is if ASUS could actually admit that T303UA was faulty on many levels, that its keyboard and trackpad cannot perform and it has fan and other associated issues. This will help immensely - many consumers (including myself) are now thinking of claiming insurance or similar compensation as a result of this product malfunctioning (and I have seen that repairs are not helping).

    It was not a well-designed product to begin with (despite the flashy ads etc.). Although I appreciate the jurisdictional issues you note in your response, this is irrelevant really. EU consumers benefit from regulations set against multinational companies who excel in just that - diversion of liability and not admitting that something as expensive as 1000 is actually defective and unusable.

    Again, thank you for the response - I will make sure I contact ASUS UK also.

    Thank you for your response. We haven't seen in our knowledge base that this device has a definitive defect. The touchpad is very sensitive to the touch and if your palm hovers it may affect it. The sensitivity can be adjusted and we have updated drivers that can be used. The chipset and ASUS Keyboard lock driver can be installed to assist with your keyboard and a BIOS update can be installed for fan related issues. If these suggestions doesn't work then we recommend repairs in these instances. We express our apologies for the major inconveniences experienced with your device.

    I check this forum for updates on the trackpad issue but keep getting the same apologetic response from Asus. The only definitive solution to the mousepad defect is a wireless mouse. Although some users claim to fixed the insensitivity/oversensitivity by removing/reinstalled new drivers, nothing is confirmed until we get some follow-up feedback regarding whether it's a permanent solution. It seems like if you buy an ASUS laptop, you also take the role of tech support because theirs is virtually non-existent.

    It's been 8 months since I purchased my T304u and just recently started to notice the fan noise. Not bothered by it but I'm sure it will eventually lead to decreased CPU performance in the future. Best thing for now is to bite the bullet and shop smarter next time.

    Hi ZeeZoo, please allow us to apologies for the experience you had encountered and we'll be more than happy to assist you. Were there any updates made to your unit before you started having the sensitivity issue? If yes, we would recommend reinstalling the touchpad driver version V11.0.14 on your unit from our support site using this link: https://www.asus.com/us/2-in-1-PCs/A...Desk_Download/. Also, can you verify the BIOS version that's installed on your unit?

    Asus...If you haven't seen the problems with the device then you're developers haven't tested the device for more than 1 month. Why don't you just show them this forum? Guess its just a coincidence that EVERYONE suffers from the same problem.... its great that you offer to send it back for repairs but how much of an inconvience is it when you don't have a computer to use for a month? Not to mention the repair fees people have to pay when the warranty runs out. If you have one of these things sell it, cut your loses and never go back.
