Well, they can't run Windows 8 on it but they could run Windows RT and may release a version like that later if Windows RT/8 is successful... In the meantime it seems many are having trouble getting drivers for Windows ready. So most of the first Windows RT tablets are likely to be Tegra 3 based.

RT thats what I meant, as most windows 8 phones are using the dual core qualcomm, this would be the most powerful windows phone by far

Well, it would be nice if they go with the S4 Pro Quad Core...

    Here's a article testing Qualcomm's sample tablet...

    Latest update...

Asus Padfone 2 specs leaked ahead of Oct 16th announcement? - Liliputing

Seems the NCC (Japan's version of the FCC) has some documents on the Padfone 2:

    Model number: A68
Cellular data: GSM 1900/850 MHz, WCDMA 2100 MHz
    Wireless: WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC

So looks like there will be a Japan release soon, but still no word on exact dates and how the world wide roll out will be done...

Guess we will have to wait...

The deal breaker for me would be No 1900 MHz band for 3G+...

I almost bought the original PadFone but the only carrier in my country that could supported is the crappiest one at the 900 MHz frequency. So hopefully with the Padfone 2 I won't need to change carriers...

Now we can see the same News with nice pictures in this link.

But there is one thing I dont understand...

If the PadFone 2 (according to pictures) is razor thin at the bottom, so probably there is no connections there, how come you slide it vertically to plug it to the Tablet Station? How is the connection between those two being made?

Looks good! The elimination of the door is probably a good thing, as that will no longer be something that can break. The new connections must be moved to the bottom of the phone like most other phones now; probably micro-USB power and MHL like the new Samsung phones?

I liked the original side connections only because I was hoping to set up a snap-in cradle with connections at the bottom for landscape mounting in my car (feed from the top). The new form factor is not an issue though, as long as they make a slide-in rotating cradle that can be set to landscape. In fact, now they have the perfect mold to create one just like the slide-in cradle on the tablet. ;-)

I was tempted by the Padfone1, but living in the US it only functioned on 2G data connections. For me, it has to be a US compatible 4G LTE device to justify the expense. That is a must for longevity of the purchase in my book.

What concerns me is the talk of only being 3G and no keyboard dock to make it into a Transformer. I guess we will find out tomorrow won’t we…

Hope they announce a US carrier supported version is on the way too. Fingers crossed!

Yes, I agree with the nice vertical sliding form for the PadFone 2, because now they moved the center of gravity of the whole Phone-tablet system to a lower position, and they can use a slimmer keyboard without fearing to tilt it over...

The problem is that we havent seen any keyboard dock leaks yet... And to me that is very important since it has the USB host and SD connections there... And it serve to prop the tablet up for watching movies, playing games and the likes...

Hopefully they did not ditch the idea of the keyboard and if they kept it, they make it compatible with the one on the Infinity Pad... anyway we will find out in a few hours...

And lastly, I know this is a really long shot, but I wish they would put a micro HDMI for video out right in the Tablet Station or the keyboard dock (if there is one)
