    No 4G on Padfone?

Why on earth would ASUS go through all the trouble to design such an awesome device but leave out 4g? I was sold when I first saw it as I don't yet have a tablet but without 4g it's a deal-breaker. I know, I saw the padfone2 will have 4g, but come on, who knows how far out that thing is.

Maybe someone could enlighten me on the design constraints that caused ASUS to leave out 4g on the first model?

    Welcome to the forum!

I agree, that sucks, 4G is awesome. Not that I would know on my phone since I have an iPhone 4. I do have a 4G MiFi and it is blazingly fast when I get 4G service.

I'm guessing they're holding off until the world can agree on what, exactly, 4G is - Apple got burnt with 4G on the iPad 3 that is only 4G in some parts of the US, in the rest of the world it's a useless addition of weight because 4G means something different.

I'm more concerned that the ASUS spec sheet lists only dual 3G (UMTS) bands -- 900/2100 Mhz, which is the one used in Europe I believe. If correct, the Padfone won't even be compatible with any 3G in the US -- neither AT&T (850/1900) nor T-Mobile (1700/2100).

If this is the case, I won't be a Padfone customer... pentaband 3G/HSPA+ is one of the best features of my Galaxy Nexus.

I brought the padfone from mainland China to Austin, TX. It can only run on EDGE2. You are right and there seems to be no remedy so far.
