I currently have 2 of the 3 features. I have a Razr Maxx with a LapDock 500 Pro. My Phone connects through a ribbon cable to the dock. Once connected the phone provides the dock with all of its functions. The dock provides a VGA out, rj-45 connection to a wired network, two USB ports and a 7 hour battery that keeps charging the phone when connected. The dock also has a 14" screen that provides views of the connected phone and all of its functionality as well as a window to webtop applications with multiple browser windows possible. Also has a track pad that works pretty well but is no replacement for a laptop nor netbook.

Stupidest idea ever. They took the "transformer" metaphore too seriously.

Can someone please explain to me what the padphone does? After reading around a bit, I'm still having trouble understanding the concept. What exactly does it do?

The best I can tell is that once you place your phone in the back of the tablet , the tablet is powered to run like say the TF 201. Apparently the processing power is coming from the phone along with the apps. The tablet has to have some goodies as well because it charges the phone while the phone is docked inside the housing of the tablet. Since the tablet has the 10 inch display I'm not sure if it has a processor not but I know the phone houses the apps and triggers the tablet to turn on when the phone is docked.

From the research I did the tablet does not work without the phone. This means if someone like my wife wanted to use the tablet to play a game, I would loose the use of my phone.
However on the road it would mean my tablet now has cell capability were WiFi is not available. Better get a bigger data plan lol. Seriously though I can see many possibilities!

The tablet can not be used without the phone. So basically the pad is an accessory for the phone and the keyboard is an accessory for the pad.
I like it, because you can change your phone into a pad. Now when I change from phone to pad I have to make sure all my files are synced to my pc.
Then take my pad and sync again (I always sync manually. Just to be safe).
With the Padfone I could easily switch from phone to pad.

I never share devices, so no problems in that area
