Where can I find instructions for bricked Memopad

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere on this forum but I can't, after hours of searching, find a clear guide to help me restore my mother's Memopad. The model is: MeMO Pad K001. It also has the following code on the back: D2OKCT029410

I can find lots of seemingly appropriate guides, but none seem quite right. My problem is as follows - I hope you guys can help/suggest something.

When I turn on the tablet I get text saying "Signature mismatch. Booting failed. Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000008)". I can't then turn off the tablet.

If I hold power + volume down, I can get to a selection of RCK, the Android robot and Wipe Data. At the top left hand corner it says "Android cardu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.31-20130823" A03 Key driver not found .. Booting OS Starting Fastboot USB download protocal". No matter which of these I select I always get to the dead Android robot with exclamation, then the Asus logo and the spinning wheel.

I've come across a number of guides that recommend downloading firmware (I'm not sure where from or which firmware I should use), putting it on microSD, then in the tablet, then somehow recovering Android from there. None of these have seem to work. But then again, I have no idea what I'm doing or whether I'm following a guide that's right for the tablet ...

Does anyone know if there's an idiot's guide somewhere that can take me through the steps, without requiring me to know too much about what I'm doing?! Thanks in advance for any help!

    Welcome to the forum

We have a guide on Manually Reflashing firmware. Linked from the Master Help Guide in my signature. It should work for the pad you have. You want the simple guide because you can get to recovery.

How well you will be able to follow it I don't know, but it is as easy as it can be written. Be prepared to find that the Memo is dead, however, as they are low budget devices that are not known for their longevity.

You may find it helpful to know that your mums pad is a Memo Pad Smart ME301T. The following video is a tear down guide if you need it.

    Hi Janner

Thanks for the quick reply - much appreciated. Just to make sure, is the guide you're referring to the first post on this?:

Yes. That's the one. The guide is accurate and you may find additional wisdom throughout the thread if you want real world experiences.

Actually, I think this thread is going to be better for you: [GUIDE] How to manually update/restore firmware (TF101, TF201, TF300, TF700, TF701)
I have not much experience how this works for the Memopad 10 and the most challenging might be to find the Asus firmware. They made it very hard to find older firmware recently..
    Let me have a look...

    Edit:
    Here it is: http://www.asus.com/us/support/Download/28/6/0/10/8/

Second from the top is what you need.
Then follow the instructions in the thread I linked to. Use Method B (flashing the firmware from a microSD) on unzipping, renaming etc and let us know if it worked.
    Good luck

Hi droidbound and janner. Thanks for the links.

I tried going through the steps and it's not working I'm afraid. I downloaded the second firmware from the top (ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10 Firmware: V10.6.1.31 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.2.1)) then followed the steps in Method B. Once I select RCK the text in the top left says "booting recovery kernal image, signature match", then changes to an upright robot for a fraction of a second, which swiftly becomes a dead one with the red exclamation mark. After leaving it like that for a while it returns to the original Asus screen with the same text as described in my OP: "Signature mismatch. Booting failed. Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000008)".
