    MeMo Pad broken

So back in September I got my ASUS memopad smart to use for note taking during class, it worked alright and a few months ago it crashed but i was able to recover without issue besides losing my data, fast forward to two days ago, i'm using the MeMopad to read on and it randomly cuts off, I turn it back on and it freezes and shuts off again, I've tried every possible troubleshooting option short of opening up the tablet and checking the wiring, It will charge and when I plug it into my laptop it will "connect" (As in i get the connected sound, but I get the notification saying it's malfunctioned) and when I hold down the power button on the tablet whilst it's connected to the laptop, it will disconnect and reconnect as if its turning on, but the screen will remain black and it will not show in windows explorer meaning it's still malfunctioning.
Are there any other fixes I can try before I have to open up the tablet? I got a quote from ASUS saying repairs would be $230 dollars or MORE, which is almost double the price that I paid for the tablet, so sending it in is not an option.

Welcome to the forum Grimlyn. I would definitely recommend a factory reset. Make sure to follow the steps in the [HOW TO] Perform a Factory Reset

The tablet is unresponsive to any of these options.

You never mention the battery level. If that might be the problem, you might try a trickle charge: connect it to a PC via USB, making sure the PC doesn't sleep; after several hours, connect it to the wall wart and finish the charge.

I've tried that as well, it shows no signs of life besides the laptop recognizing that its connected to the PC though it shows as malfunctioned.

It sounds like a screen issue to me - it certainly isn't worth spending what Asus are asking for to repair it!

I don't think you have any choice other than to carefully dismantle it and check all the cable connections. If one looks loose, then try just pushing it on, but if not, try disconnecting and reconnecting those cables which are obvious.

    Good luck.

After checking over the wiring the tablet is still not working, I guess its just time to send it to the great electronic heaven aka the back of my closet, this will be the last asus product i purchase.

Grimlyn, since you've had it only about eight months, isn't still under warranty?

Sadly no, when I contacted asus about it they confirmed that because it was refurbished it only had a 90 day warranty, which ran out months ago, this isn't the first time i've had issues with asus over broken products, I kind of hoped they'd look past the warranty issue but oh well.
