Only upgrade via Asus -- MeMO Pad 10

As some of you may have noticed, I recently posted regarding several problems my Asus Memo Pad 10 has been giving me. Among other things, I inquired whether an "upgrade" might help.

Today I came across a fairly recent post about a lady who "tried" getting an upgrade and instead ended up with some very serious problems. I thought perhaps I should post this as a warning to others:

Unauthorized link removed. Forum Guideline violation

A few things need to be said about this post. First of all, she apparently received a pop-up inviting her to upgrade. THERE IS OFTEN A SERIOUS DANGER in believing you can trust a pop-up! She apparently didn't know this, and clicked on it to get the "upgrade." With disastrous results.

Anyone wanting an upgrade should ONLY get it from the official Asus site. Trusting what you read in a pop-up is a very risky choice, and that goes for other brands of tablets, PCs, laptops, and phones besides Asus.

Also, she was given instructions on how to possibly "solve" her problem by clearing out a "cache" in her tablet. This may have been good advice, I don't know.

Whatever effect it may have had, I find it interesting that she hasn't yet returned to say "thank you."

    Who knows? Maybe she will.

(I later found a note from the Staff telling me they had removed my Link. Apparently links to other forums are not allowed. My apologies. Since no mention was made of "naming" other forums, may I assume it is all right to say the lady's post was in the Androidcentral forum? Her post is currently the very first, so it shouldn't be too hard to find - - as long as you are in the Android MeMO Pad section.)

Thanks for the post Hungry Joe ---- I have changed the thread title from "dangers of upgrading" because that title is a bit misleading. There is no problem as you pointed out if your update your Memo Pad 10 from the official Asus site.
