Meet dum and dummer (fried charger port?)

Hello all, I need some advice I just bought the MeMO pad yesterday and as of a few hours a go I think I fried it. Well atleast the the charging port, I tried to use a power adapter that I bought and have been using with my TF101 for most of the two years that I've owned it
The problem is I mis-read the voltage and amps and POW no more charging port. The rest of the tablet still seems to function fine so what I'm wondering is could it be repaired, and would it be worth repairing if I sent it back to Asus?

This would be on my dime of course since this is my fault!

Thanks Hermitt-guy aka dumb and dumber

Sent from my now un-retired TF101

Oops... Not good but I'm sure Asus can repair it.

    My guess is $2-250.

$250 would definitely not be worth it, I would have to stick with my trusty TF101 for awhile longer.

Try a simple support call to Asus explaining that the pad doesn't charge and ask for their assistance. They might be kind. Or alternatively, try a similar approach to your retailer.

To be honest, the amperage of the charger you used wouldn't matter - but the voltage would. That said, I would be surprised if a standard USB 2 connection in a charger would output any more than 5v anyway, so I am not convinced that you did anything to contribute to the charging failure as even a third party charger capable of charging your tf101 is likely to have automatic downgrading to 5v if a USB 2 connection is plugged in.

The 15v charge for the tf101 is completely reliant on a specific pin in a USB 3 connection in the charger/cable.

A power failure took out my asus power cable rendering it useless. Luckily i had one from my semi retired archos 80g9. Is the charger repairable?

Doubt it. I would just buy another one - all you need is one with the same voltage & amperage figures. Actually the amperage needs to be either the same or higher as the tablet will only draw the current it needs.

I'm sorry I haven't been back into this thread for a few days thanks for the help, and advice janner43 but I'm pretty sure that in my carelessness I overvolted the tablet. To update I've sent it off to Asus to see what they can do, if they can fix it and it's not to much of a cost I'll pay for the fix. If it's to much I'll have to right it off, either way it's an expensive way to learn not to do stupid.
