Overclock my Asus Memo pad Smart 10

    Hello,

I have a question. Am i able to overclock my Asus Memo Pad Smart 10?
I am rooted en unlocked and i have the Cromi-Xenogenesis 4.6.6 odex rom running.
And are there more roms compatible with the Memo pad other than Cromi or Energy rom?

    Thanks,
    Jules

Never mind. I found a way to install a custom kernel that overclocks to 1.7 ghz.

Here is a guide of how i overclocked my Asus Memo Pad Smart

Warning: Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any damage to your device.

First of all, This does not work on the stock Android 4.1 . I didn't try it on stock Android 4.2, but i don't think it will work on that.
Second, you need to be rooted, unlocked and you need a cutom recovery. If you want to know how to root, unlock and get a custom recovery on your Asus Memo Pad Smart go to these links.
How to root you Asus Memo pad Smart 10
How to unlock+custom recovery your Asus Memo pad Smart 10 part 1
How to unlock+custom recovery your Asus Memo pad Smart 10 part 2

Step 1. If you are rooted then go to this link [ROM]★●[TF300T/G/201/301][CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.6.7][ODEX/DEODEX 10.6.1.15.3][Jun 23]●★ - Page 187 - xda-developers and download one of the two mirrors.

Step 2. Copy this file to a micro SD cart and put it in to your device.

Step 3. Turn off your device by holding the power button and the volume down button and wait until it sais RCK then press volume up. (If your device i not unlocked and it doesn't have a custom recovery, this part will not work).

Step 4. Go to install, make sure you are in the sd card and choose the file called CROMI-X Kernels v3.0_Signed.zip. Press on it and swipe to confirm flash.

Step 5. Aroma installer will pop up. Press next, then TF300T/G Options. You can change the DPI here, but i didn't do that. Press next and choose the TF300t: Hunds OC 10.6.1.14.4. Then you can choose if you want Fsync on or off. I have no idea wat this does, but is just left it marked. Then press finish 2 times and press Wipe Cache/Dalvik. (This will NOT do a factory reset, so you will keep al you're apps and settings). Ones you've done that press back and press reboot system. This could take a wile.

Step 6. Ones you are rebooted go to your settings, go to ASUS customized setting, go to system performance and press performance mode.

Step 7. Your device is now clocked to 1.5 ghz, but you can get it higher by going to you're app drawer and look for Hundsbuahs Kernel Tweaks. (If this doesn't show up, then something went wrong). Press on it and then you can set the maximum clockspeed for all four of the cores. (If you press (Re)read CPU Frequencys and it says it doesn't work, then try to download Antutu CPU Master and try it that way).

Step 8. Know your Asus Memo Pad Smart 10 should be able to overclock.

I hope this guide helped you out.

Thanks for posting your guide Jules

As your thread covers a non stock situation, it rightly belongs in the development section, so I have moved it there for you.

    All the best

No problem at all - you're welcome

No sir, every device I own or am responsible for (in support terms) within the family is 100% stock & always will be.

But for those brave souls who love to tinker I say go for it as long as you remember where your backup is

Are there any "safeties" in place when overclocking like this?

I'm just asking because I've gotten used to No-frills CPU control where the overclock is "reset" to standard values in case of an "unclean" shutdown - which is quite handy if things "go south".

Or would it be possible to use an app like that (No-Frills) or SetCPU instead?

    Thanks in advance,
    /gosa

    Hey,
    That is a good question.

If you use the app that comes with it (Hundsbuahs Kernel Tweaks) it will reset when you restart your tablet. So if you turn your tablet off and on again, it will be in 1300 mhz again.
My Memo Pad is a little unstable at 1700 mhz so when i benchmark it at that clockspeed it will reboot and reset your cpu. The minimum i could get out of my Memo Pad 910 mhz and the maximum was 1700 mhz when i didn't run the benchmark.
It is very unlikely to go wrong, but if it does go wrong it is at your own risk.

    I hoped this helped you.
