[SOLVED] ME173X Can't connect to the Internet

So to be honest, this is a few months running now, I only recently discovered this site. As a "history", when the problems first started, I thought it was the school Wifi, and when I got home I thought it was the home Wifi, but when others were on their laptops at home and at school, the problem has to be the tablet.

For the longest time I had this weird form of not having Wifi. If I turned the Wifi back on, I would, for example, get all of the Facebook notifications that I had to that point, but if I swiped down to try to refresh them, I'd get the Internet not working error. And even during this phase, if I went to Youtube, that would just never work.

It's been about 2 months of not having Wifi, and I'm not gonna beat around the bush I'm not the richest person out there to just replace this. So if there's any way that I can fix this I'd be happy to try, but how?

    System information:
    Model number: ME173X
    Android version: 4.2.2
    Kernel version: 3.4.5
    Camera firmware version 110033
    Build number: ME173X_US_user_4.2.4.04152_20140714 release-keys

It's an older, budget tablet, around 2013 we bought it, but I don't want to think that it's just so old that it has bricked now. Thanks for any help!

    Welcome to the forum

You don't need to delete the thread. I've moved it (and deleted your repeated thread)

    There are two possibilities.
    1) You have a dodgy wifi module in hardware. No solution to that.
    2) You have a firmware issue. Two options there...
    i) Backup & do a Factory Reset (should work)
ii) Manually reinstall the firmware (shouldn't be required)

If you need a guide on either of those two processes, then visit the Master Help Guide linked in my signature below. You'll find them there.

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

Thank you! My apologies for the late reply, I forgot to say in the original post that I would be away for home for a few weeks afterwards (and given the Internet on my tablet not working...)

1 - If this is the case, would I at least be able to get this issue... "diagnosed"? How do I know if it's a dodgy wifi module?

    2 -
i - Would I want to back up all of my data (I know how to put files and folders from my tablet to my PC) onto my PC first, or would it leave my data be?
ii - same question as above.

I'm also a little confused with the Master Guide, where I go to find the instructions for both of those for my tablet. Sorry, I'm definitely not a tech person x_x

And sorry again for very late reply!

You'll know if it's a hardware issue if neither of the options in point 2 work.

Yes, backup your files first if you want to keep them

The Master Help Guide is linked in my signature - you want the Factory Reset guide first.

Um, so I'm trying to back up my data (not everything though. Doing some soul-searching stuff to sort out unimportant stuff), but when I try to copy and paste files from my tablet to a folder on my computer, I get the error "Calculating time required to copy files" which it never moves from.

Of course, I would love to use the Internet to back up these files, but well... Do you know the solution from this?

Actually nevermind that, I have all of my data backed up on my computer now. But I'm confused, I can't find my specific model of Antroid tablet (memo pad hd 7, me173x) within the Master Help Guide now
