Question Multiple error msgs: Unfortunately <every app> has stopped

Last night I opened my HD7 and swiped the lock screen. The screen turned gray w/ faint bars and just froze.

I restarted it, and now am bombarded w/ error messages stating "Unfortunately, <a majority of my apps> has stopped, including Launcher, Settings, android.process.media and a number of Google apps (process com gapps, acore, etc). Scary stuff.

I found some instructions on rebooting (turn off, then hold -volume and the on button), and if I open the settings ASAP, can access my apps. I tried resetting my app preferences, but that didn't help. I've gone into some of the individual apps (like Launcher) and cleared their cache, and in some cases, cleared data as well.

I found a video that instructs how to start in recovery mode (turn off, then hold +volume and the on button), select Recovery Mode, then select "wipe cache partition." Unfortunately, that hasn't helped, either. http://forums.androidcentral.com/asu...s-stopped.html

None of my apps will run. I'm stuck. Any suggestions out there? I've had my HD 7 for a few years now and use it all the time. This is the first problem I've had with it.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

If the system cache clearance didn't work, it's time for a wipe & rebuild. AKA a Factory Reset & reinstall your apps. You do have backups, right?

Unfortunately, not since I took a bunch of family photos with it a week or so ago with it. Is there any way to recover those?

Thanks for getting back to me on this!

Nope. No way, unless you have them automatically backed up to the cloud...
All the following cloud backups are free but you would have to have had them running first.
    Onedrive
    Google Photos
    Dropbox
    Amazon (unlimited space with Prime)

But with a little perseverance you ought to be able to get at least some of them off using a File Manager or even adding one of those services to your tablet now even though it crashes every few minutes. It might take multiple attempts, but I would guess it's worth the effort?
