The cable arrived today, plugged it, stuck a usb stick of images in the other end, nothing.. ;-(

No sign of it in the bundled File Manager app, so I went to the Play Store, downloaded OTG Troubeshooter, which tells me 'This device does not have USB host support and does not allow you to connect an OTG'.

Shgould have done that before buying the cable.. ;-) End of story I guess?

How strange that Gkas seems to be the only person to achieve OTG support on an HD7.

As you say that seems to be the end of the story.

    Thanks very much for trying.

I wonder if he 'lost' the ability if he did an update of his OS? I can only guess that it was enabled in an earlier version, or, perhap, that the hardware really did change at some point.

today i tried 2 different OTG cables on my HD7 and no luck, also tried both OTG cables with a powered hub with a Y-Cable, nothing.....hopefully we can find a workaround for this situation.

Edit: also tried a couple of OTG apk's from the playstore....ran a OTG Host checker program, No Host Available.

if anyone is interested in some good "universal" OTG information, slide over to XDA to the HP Touch-pad forum, they have covered everything from the basic's to the complex (not just for the T.P.)...great info imo!

Anyone with any news on this? Tried rooting mine today, used a otg y cable with power and tried with USB otg helper software. Still no luck sadly...

    Hi
I got mine to work with otg.
You need a powered otg cable, also go to settings - about tablet - and tab "Build number" 7 times and a message pops up that you are a developer now.
Now I can use USB sticks, mouse, card reader, ..... You might consider to install app "USB OTG Helper" too.
....but I can't connect hard drives to it for some reason.
If some one has an idea please let me know.

    From UK.
had problems with the otg/usb micro socket. I assumed I could plug a mini usb in there. According to ASUS I could use a standard micro/to usb female with no problem. Tried that nothing worked. Contacted PC World where purchased (UK company) and their engineer advised that the micro usb socket was only for battery charging and so it seems. Hope that is right but if somebody knows different well please advise. Not too sure if UK specs are the same a US.
