Connecting my Asus Memo Pad HD7 to my TV
I have had my Asus Memo Pad HD7 fo 8months and loving it.
At the moment I'm trying to connect my Asus Memo Pad HD7 to my TV via the micro USB slot using a MLH/ HDMI adaptor with a power supply to the converter bit. When the power is on the for the adaptor and for the memo pad, the TV recognises the adaptor , but not the TV. What am I doing wrong?.
Now I've bought the adaptor I want to see if there is a way I can get it to work.
Any help with this would be great.
Mick .

I can't help with your specific issue. However, as an alternative maybe even better solution. Have you considered purchasing a wireless Miracast HDMI adapter? Something like the Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 instead?

The MeMO Pad HD7 has built in wireless projection capabilities. You plug the adapter into your TV's HDMI port, like you're having to do anyway except you don't have any wires connected to the MeMO PAD.
Here's a how to guide in case you're interested in learning more:

I looked at the Chromecast when originally considering going this route. I was a little confused because it seemed like it required an internet connection or for both devices to be on the same network to work, in that the device display was sent to the cloud/router and then beamed back down, ala HTML 5 to the chromecast dongle kind of functionality. I could be wrong, but I'm just curious if that's the case or not. Do you need an internet connection or for both devices to be connected to the same network to be able to project the screen to a Chromecast dongle? or does it use Miracast?
Ultimately, it was this confusion that led me to go in the direction of the Netgear PTV3000 instead because essentially it worked in a manor of whatever you see on your tablet is what you see on the secondary display and it didn't require an internet connection or network to work. It made more sense to me because the functionality resembled that of connecting a cable between two devices, except with no physical wires.

You are correct. The chromecast does require a strong and stable wifi connection to operate. It is also does not support 5 GHz wifi.

Thanks Gtanner. So it requires Wifi in that both the Tablet and the Chromecast Dongle need to be connected to the same network? Similar to DLNA functionality but does not necessarily require an internet connection?
Sorry, just trying to make sure I understand it correctly, since saying it needs Wifi could mean multiple things. Wifi in that both devices are connected via the same network to each other? Wifi meaning both devices are connected to the internet? or Wifi, meaning both devices are directly connected via Wifi direct communications to each other?

Yes because chromecast is not simply a screen mirroring device. Everything has to pass through Google’s servers and be processed before being sent to the chromecast. It also allows for apps to have unique second screen support rather than a simple mirror function. Chromecast however has android and desktop screen mirroring as well but it is subject to low frame rate.
