    External keyboard ?

Has anyone had any luck with an external keyboard that plugs into the micro USB port or Bluetooth connection.

Maybe an adapter for a full size PC keyboard and / or a smaller, rollup or foldable keyboard for traveling?

I think Jimmy may have missed that you have a MeMo & not a Transformer Dave

In any case, pretty much any Bluetooth keyboard should work - and they are available for around /$/€20.
As far as USB connected keyboards are concerned, I would suggest that with a USB OTG adapter for your tablet, again pretty much any USB connected keyboard should work.

    All the best

Yes, because of the name of this forum, I did not specify that I have a Asus MeMO Pad HD 7. Thanks for the information on using a Bluetooth keyboard.

By USB OTG cable, are we talking about the cable that has a micro USB on one end and a standard USB on the other than plugs into the charger and came with the Memo Pad?

    Thanks.

And no reason why you should, either

I wasn't sure that an adapter came with the pad, but yes, as long as you mean microUSB one end & full USB socket at the other, then that would be the one.

I purchased a ProHT Bluetooth Keyboard, made by Inland, I think. Cute little keyboard, but in someways pointless with the 9 1/2 width, not being that much wider than the 6 inch on screen keyboard. however did instantly like having the control, insert, delete and arrow keys available.

Keyboard was easily recognized by the Memo Pad. Unfortunately, using the bluetooth keyboard disabled the on screen keyboard, but touch for cursor still worked.

I would say if goal is a keyboard for working on documents, find a full size bluetooth keyboard if possible, although this one looks cute:
iPazzPort USA Mini Bluetooth Keyboard Touchpad Controls Smart TV PC Android | eBay

Any ideas? Any bluetooth keyboards with touchpads? Haven't tried a bluetooth mouse yet. Full size bluetooth keyboards seem to be $50 to $100, which seems pretty pricing compared to the $ 3.99 USB keyboard I bought today to test with the OTG cable. I wonder if there are USB to bluetooth converters ?

    Maybe this bluetooth keyboard ,

but might not work with Android Memo Pad

    or this one:
    Amazon.com : IOGEAR Multi-Link Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad GKM611B (Black/Grey) : Computer Keyboards : Electronics

    = = = = = =
Also tried a USB keyboard connected with a Micro Connectors USB micro usb male to usb. a female e07-171-otg connector from micro center in Denver for $ 8.99. The Memo Pad did not recognize the keyboard (or a USB drive).

Perhaps a bluetooth may be better because it has its own power, but to be productive, should be a full size keyboard. Too bad I haven't been able to get USB devices to work. Might be the cable, but see others having trouble.

You may also want to check out some 3rd party soft keyboards.

Thumb keyboard looks interesting, but a little wide - does it work on the Memo Pad HD 7 ?

    It should.

It has different layouts for different sized devices. I have a 10" tablet, but they have some more compact layouts for the 7" tablets.

Hi I was able to buy a blue tooth keyboard a couple of weeks ago from amazon. I believe this maker got a an external keyboard for your transformer. Good luck!
