Battery Percent Stuck

So, a little back story...
I got myself a memopad fhd 10 a couple months ago and absolutely love it. After showing it to my dad he decided to get one himself, and ordered one from Amazon.
It worked just like mine for a couple days, then all of a sudden the battery percentage started acting up. When charging up it follows the charge with no problem, but once you unplug the device the battery drops around 2% then stays there indeffinatly. Then after hours of use the thing finally dies and charges up again with no problem, until is unplugged again.

Does anyone have any idea what he can do to fix it?
He really doesn't want to send it back if he doesn't have to.

I had a similar (not exactly the same) issue with my tf700 once. It would just stick at 56%. I let it run down completely...then turned it back on and let it run down more...the tablet will actually turn off with a bit of battery left so turning it back on and running a movie or something until it shuts down again will completely drain the battery. Then I let it charge for at least 10 hours ...if the tablet turns on when he plugs it in to charge...he must turn it back off. This fixed the issue for me. If this does not fix it, I suggest contacting amazon. It is way easier to get a replacement through them if in their return time then it is to get it fixed by Asus.

We have actually tried soneyhing similar, but not exactly the same. I will have him kill the battery today, and charge it overnight. Hopefully I will have some good news to report back.

Worked for me with memo pad 8 - ME180A
The battery percentage was stuck on 1%
I downloaded a draining app called battery drain or something.. and it helped me draining the battery fast, as the tablet turned off I tried to turn it on again but it shut off immediately again. I plugged it into the charger over night, turned it on in the morning and the battery percentage was fine again.
