    Rooting the 302C

    Good Day everyone,

Does anybody knows how to root the beast ?
There are a lot of apps I'd like to get rid of but can't uninstall them.

    Welcome to the forum

I have deleted your duplicate thread as you requested & then moved this one from the ROMs section to the Development section where it really belongs.

It may be a little early for a root option on this device - or not, others may know better

In the meantime, you could always "disable" any apps that you do not wish to use on your device. Doing that will not clear the storage space, of course, but it will stop them auto loading/running or appearing in the updates section of your Play Store account.

    All the best

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

Your opinion matters. But should you disagree - please try not to be disagreeable

Ok thanks a lot for cleaning my mess.
I'll try the disable options. Through the application menu I guess..?

There is root for this pad. Just hit this link HOWTO Root für das Memo Pad 10 FHD - Android-Hilfe.de and it's all there. Description how to root latest firmware 4.7.1 is on one of the last pages. The forum is in german so just use chrome to translate, the translation is a bit sketchy but u'll get the gist of it.

edit: PS!! ROOTED IMAGE IS ONLY FOR WW SKU

    Thanks

I speak German so no need of Google translator...usually... this looks like Chinese to me though.. => I'll have to get a closer "rooky" look at it. I am not familiar with these kind of things...

OK. Herewith a free translation of switchgott’s post (see link above).

I don't know if the links here below work. It is probably better to use the ones given in the original post above (follow link).

Again, this is a free translation : I have no idea about causes and effects....

"As always you are responsible for everything. This Flash method is relatively secure, but something wrong can always happen.

Before you can root your tablet, you must install the SDK (Software Development Kit) for Android. This is where the Fastboot drivers can be found.

Without these drivers, you could not send any Fastboot command to the Tablet, as your OS doesn’t recognize the tablet in Bootloader mode.

You can download the USB drivers here :
    http://go.android-hilfe.de/v1/redire...IGNQ2HNV9QVLOD

    Guide for Rooting :

    1. First please secure your Data in the internal disk;

    2. Download System.img.gz
    https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads...132101/73f05f#

    3. Switch on the tablet in Bootloader mode : Power + Vol UP

    3. Send the following commands to the tablet :
Fastboot erase cache (Cache Partitions will be erased)
Fastboot erase userdata (Erase Data partition : Careful, all apps settings etc will be erased. Like Fullwipe)
Fastboot erase system (System Partitions will be erased)

    4. You can now import the system image
    Fastboot flash system system.img.gz

    5. Reboot

    6. Install the following APK : Superuser.apk (the superuser.apk is already included in the new image!)
    http://download.clockworkmod.com/sup.../superuser.zip
    adb install Superuser.apk

    7. Test the root (Root explorer, etc…)

    8. The tablet is rooted.

    What can go wrong ?

Unfortunately we have already observed a couple of failures.
The following failures can occur during Fastboot flash :
    Fastboot online
    Fastboot offline
    Fastboot online
    Fastboot offline, temp full

If these failures occur, please shift in bootloader modus : Power + Vol UP.
Then please make a factory reset, Full wipe. Careful : All data will be erased, including on the internal drive.
Then please start again from step 3.

    Do I have a recovery ?

Yes we do. Meaning that nothing can go wrong, except that you can loose all your data.

    1. Download the following firware from the ASUS HP : ASUS MEMo Pad FHD 10 Firware : V4.5.7 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.2.2)
    WW_ME302C-V4_5_7_ota_user.zip

    2. Save this file on C:\

    3. Switch the tablet in Bootloader Mode : Power + Vol UP

    3. Enter the following fastboot command
    Fastboot flash update WW_ ME302C-V4_5_7_ota_user.zip

    4. The tablet boots up by itself and installs the complete OS again new.
All the data will be lost. FULL WIPE !!

    5. Start the Tablet as from out of the box state.

How do you turn on USB debugging for this tablet? I don't see it or any other developer options.
