Upload pictures from camera to tablet

I have the memo pad 8.

I've tried to upload my pictures from my camera to my tablet.

I've tried loading from the USB connection, and then to the mini USB slot on the tablet


I've tried loading by taking the card out of the camera, then loading into a USB memory card reader, and then into the tablet.\


Neither method seems to work. The explorer programs I have do not recognize the camera or the card reader.


Any suggestions? Do I need software? Hardware?

There are various reasons why you could be having this problem...
1) Your Android Memo does not have the inbuilt drivers to recognise your camera when directly connected
2) The USB ports to which you are connected are not set to recognise external USB devices when connected (host) (you may need to use a USB OTG adapter)
3) (2) may also apply with regards to when you are trying to read your memory card directly, via a USB adapter
4) Your memory card may not be formatted in the correct format for Android. The images on the card may not be in the correct format either.

You may find that asking Asus directly if the MeMo 8 can handle USB OTG is the easiest solution. If so then getting a cheap adapter from Amazon for that will work, or it may be the case that the easiest way to get photos across will be either via a connection of your MeMo to your PC or alternatively via either a third party cloud service (eg Dropbox) or via your own "personal cloud" eg NAS.
