New User with MemoPad 176CX - various questions...battery, swype etc

    Hello,
I have a brand new Memopad 176CX. The tablet is updated to the latest version of firmware and applications. But the battery life of is awful. I left the tablet with 100% battery and the only apps run was the sync. 14 hours later, the battery was at 25%.

Do you have any different experience?

Take a read through the "definitive guide to battery matters" thread linked in the Master Help Guide (link in my signature).

You'll find lots of advice about wifi, apps synching, airplane mode, microSD cards etc. etc. etc... in short you'll need to do some configuration & detective work on your own device.

Let's clarify something. This is something that was OK during the first couple of days. Then, an update made the tablet almost unusable. Factory reset, was already performed and now, I will try to "calibrate" the battery.

Unfortunatelly, some apps where downdloaded from the Google Servers, due to automatic backup/restore.
I will leave it to charge the battery the whole night and tomorrow, we will see.

    Question Swype keyboard?

    Hello,
I have a new MemoPad 7 176CX. In the introductory screens, it is clear that the keyboard has swype support. But I have not managed to "enable" that thing. In my older MemoPad (173X) I use the Google keyboard because swype was not supported. I prefer the ASUS keyboard, but with swype.

So, how can I use swype?

Firmware updates have been known to mess with battery performance before. The TF701 is a very recent example still currently going on...

You merged two completely different subjects in one, making it difficult to find answers, unbelievable.

Anyway, to answer my self and help other guys, the problem is one the updates. After reseting to factory image, the battery problem is lost. So, how do we report bugs to ASUS?

Did you tried that yourself? Is it possible to pin-point the exact location in the keyboard settings that you enable/disable swype?

Hi tpe - This might help?

Have you checked settings>language & input

On my TF300 long-pressing on the virtual keyboard key marked "1@#" opens the Asus Keyboard where you can select the Input method or enable the Swype-like option in Asus keyboard settings - trace input

It's not unbelievable at all - it has long been our policy to handle new user posts in this way. All questions in one thread - especially when they are all basic ones that have been answered in general terms dozens of times previously. To be truthful, you may be only one of 2/3 members here with your particular device. Asus have around a dozen different 7" Memo devices. They are all budget and built to a very short production run. Not that there is anything wrong with that. You'll notice that the only ones to reply to your thread are two members of staff here - both volunteers neither of whom have one of "your" devices.

In fact the only members here who have looked at your thread are:
Members who have read this thread: 4
    Swipe, janner43, alicepattinson, tpe
And "alicepattinson" lists her device as being iOS...

As far as your "fix" goes. All your Factory Reset has done is to wipe your device and reload the latest firmware update from scratch. Therefore you have not gone back to the original "factory image" at all. Having to Fcatory Reset after a firmware update isn't unusual in the least. You would know that if you had read the guide threads linked in the Master Help Guide (link in signature, below). The guide thread on the recommended way to handle OTA firmware updates covers it.

As far as reporting bugs to Asus is concerned - visit the Asus website & register your device and then you can report back that way.
