    How to quit Camera

I accidently launched the Camera app and discovered that I could not quit it unless I forced the tablet to turn off. Is there any way to quit Camera that I am not aware of? Alternatively, is there any way that I can disable Camera?

To exit the camera app simply tap the home button on the bottom of your tablet, it may just be dots, in which case I believe it is the middle dot. To disable the camera altogether go to settings--apps swipe to All and find the camera app, then tap disable. You can re-enable by following the same steps. Welcome to the forum!

I tried this. The "apps" list for "all" in settings does not show the app called "camera." I have the "camera" app installed and it works, but it does not have a "disable" setting. Any other suggestions on how to disable the camera other than putting a post-it note over the lens? Thanks.

The Camera is "tied" to the Gallery app. Gallery contains your photos, screenshots and various thumbnails. Try clearing the cache, clearing data and force close the Gallery app.

If you disable the Gallery app, your camera will stop working. But the Camera icon will still be present. If you want to do this but still look at photos on your tablet try the app QuickPic to view your photos. IMO it is light years ahead of Gallery and is my go to for photo viewing over Gallery. I would disable Gallery but it also disables my camera.

Thank you for the advice. Disabling the Gallery app seems to be the only way to disable the camera. However, on my tablet (which does have Android 4.1.1) when you disable the Gallery app, both the Gallery and the Camera icons disappear. The only way to get them to reappear is to enable the Gallery app again. For me, this is not a problem because I hardly ever use the camera, so this is the way to go. However, it would be nice if Google or ASUS, in the next update of the operating system, added a button to the Camera app to just turn it off.
