    unable to establish secure connection with the server

    Hi everybody!
    I recently bought a Slider and everything used to go well.. The last few days however i am unable to connect to my google account and therefore unable to access things like the market, gmail app, youtube app, the tagrazone app etc. The message i get when i try toconnect to a new or different account is " unable to establish secure connection with the server ".
    Besides Sl101, I own a couple of other android devices (HTC & Sony, both of them smartphones) which can connect throught the same router using the same account so I guess this means that the problem is located in my slider. I tried to see whether there is some upgrate available for the tablet (I was thinking about android 4) but there is nothing. Actually I am not sure if there is a way to update android in this tablet, there is only a "System firmware update" choice...
    On the other hand, i realised through my research that this is a "common" issue for smartphones but i found nothing about tablets. The most common fix that is suggested, is to reset back to the factory settings which eventually will erase everything from the memory.
    To say the truth I am relly reluctant about following that solution and I`ll tell you why. I havent used the market for some time now. I am not sure when was the last time that I did but it was definitelly some days before "google play" (06.03.2012) replaced the old market. Therefore if the problem is related to google play there is a possibility that even if I reset, nothing will change and I will be left with just a shiny brick on my hands.
    Has anybody come across the same issue as I did?? I could use any suggestion...

    Hi & welcome to the forum

    A couple of ideas, AFTER you have rebooted your router...
    1. Remove your Google account from the slider
    2. Go to applications - all - Google Play & delete cache, delete data, force close
    3. Hard reset your slider (process outlined in FAQ & tips link in my signature) This will not delete any data, just give you a clean boot
    4. Open Google Play & re-enter your account details.

    That *should* fix it. Please let us know either way.

    A firmware update is how your OS gets updated. The ICS update for the sl101 has been promised, but no date released by Asus.
