I dont really want to sell it but i would rather be able to root it & customize.

Oh im new here too & enjoy your forum.

I've tried RazorClaw and Z4root and gingerbreak and none of them see to root mine. I have a sl101 32bg and still haven't be able to root it.

    Jim,

I had already answered this question where you posted it in the Prime forum yesterday here: Rooting

But, to add it to the end of this thread so it is in the Slider forum.

The Slider is for all intensive purposes the same as the TF101 as far as rooting and ROMs. Razorclaw only worked on firmware builds 8.6.5.18 and 8.6.5.19.

All firmwares since then (8.6.5.21 and all ICS builds) are rootable using ViperMod option 1. It was developed for the TF201, but it will root your device perfectly.

Yes, because you are not running the .18 or .19 firmware. As I stated in my previous post, you need ViperMod

I appreciate your responses but only saw it here on Slider forum. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get it rooted. I do have the newer version of Slider so I downloaded Vipermod but couldn't get it to work either. I think it might have something to do with how I start up the Slider. I read somewhere that there is a key combination you need to press when starting it. I did make sure it was in USB mode and all but it either comes up in the normal mode or not at all if I hold down some keys.

I was told the volumn up and power key and that didn't seem to do anything. When I plug in the USB it automatically comes up. And it appears I have USB drivers that satisfy it because I can browse the Slider. But ViperMod doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

Did you enable USB Debugging? Settings > Developer Options

Are you running HC or ICS? If on HC, you may need to use Option 2.

Hi, I tried the viperMOD, options 1 and 2, neither could root my slider.

adb detects my tablet, but the asus utilities can't do it. I don't know if that is a driver problem or what is happening...

In the device manager it shows as MTP, and in My Computer as Slider SL101, Music Player. <---- Is that ok?

    I don't know what happens

Any help would be very appreciated.

    I'm on firmware .21, android 3.2.1

    It worked!!!

All the problems are now gone! It can connect to Asus Sync, is rooted, I'm very happy!
But I Have a question now, if I update to ICS OTA, the root will be lost?

Is there an unofficial rom to ICS that can I use to update my slider?

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

You can continue running through that procedure. Use the TF101 9.2.1.11 firmware.

Use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper to back up root before you update. Then restore afterwards.
