    USB (power+signal) speakers with TF700

    Hello.
I'm planning to get the keyboard dock and I think that a pair of small speakers would make a handy kit.
I quite fancy the idea of USB speakers, with both power and audio signal through USB.
Here are the ones I could get in the UK:
    Ricco MD2
    Palo Alto Musik
    Palo Alto Cubik
    Edifier R600USB
    SoundScience QSB

Has anybody actually had the chance to try any of such speakers with an android tablet?
Is USB audio available on the TF700?

    Regards,
    Lorenzo.

I haven't tried any of those speakers, I have a set of ihome IHM78 - they were on sale around $24 - last quite a while and have a decent sound. Nothing spectacular mind you. They are USB rechargable.

Hi Swipe. I may have to go down that route, speakers with traditional analog input.
I checked the android website and Audio over USB, introduced with Android 4.1, is meant to cover the case of a mobile phone plugged onto a docking station because it requires the Android device to be an USB device (receiving power) and the docking station to perform the role of the host (providing power).
All the speakers I listed work as USB devices, they expect power from the source of the audio data

Asus technical support wrote me that, because of the way audio over USB has been designed by google, the TF700T does not work with USB speakers (in the way those speaker would work with a PC).
This is the what they actually wrote me:
"In answer to your question Android has not enable output on the usb connection only input devices would work".
It would be nice if Asus pulled their fingers out and wrote their own code that makes their tablets source power & audio signal at the same time.
...if I'm not mistaken Samsung did it?
Or maybe Google, in their great wisdom, should understand that tablets may happen to have enough juice to power a pair of small speakers...
