[APP] "QUICKLY" launch apps from the notification menu
Android Jelly Bean added the expandable notifications to get more info about the email you just received, or that text that just came in. The folks at Decad3nce have released an app that is a great use of these expandable notifications. This app allows you to add shortcuts to your favorite apps and access them from the notifications via a persistent notification that is (you guessed it) EXPANDABLE!
Originally created as a test to see if it could be done is now available for purchase.
Here are some shots of it in action (normal on the left, expanded on the right):
As you guessed, this requires Android 4.1 or higher. Sorry TF101 owners, you will need to install a custom ROM if you want to test this out!
If you want to launch your apps without going to the home screen and/or app drawer, it may be perfect for you. But, if you hate extra notifications it may be more of an annoyance than it is worth to you.
Just a warning: The Play Store description says that it is not optimized for tablets yet, well, not exactly...

So you may want to wait if you are keen on asthetics.
It is just $0.99 over at the Play Store, so head on over and grab a copy if you are interested.

Yours truly decided to take the plunge.
It was acting a bit sluggish and for some reason during the setup needed to launch settings before it could actually choose shortcuts, but once that was done it worked great.
You can configure up to 8 shortcuts (I beleive they are going to add more if 8 is not enough).
Here is a shot of it on my tablet:
If you are running Android 4.1, it will work just the same but pop up from the bottom instead of a dropdown.
It does what it says. I think I will definitely not be requesting a refund on this one.

Re: [APP] "QUICKLY" launch apps from the notification menu
TF101 users can use "Widgetstoid" if they are on stock rom, it's the most similar thing you can find, the icons are always shown and takes on line, you can add as much lines you wish.

Another app called Notification Toggle also does this, with a lot of options to include systems shortcuts and apps into two additional rows in the notification bar.
There is a limit of two rows, but you can add any number to each row, the icons just resize and get smaller and smaller....

I use swipepad. Not exactly the same as it doesn't use the notification bar, but is highly effective for quickly switching apps from any screen or other application..

I use this on my phone (Swipepad). Didn't think I would like it nearly as much as I do. Unobtrusive. Accurate. Quick. I have hidden all my most used icons in it. EMail accounts, Contacts, Dialer. Recommend.
Having so much real estate on a 10 inch tablet, I don't think apps like this are really needed. IMO of course.

Thought I'd move this from the News section to Applications.

So I've installed 7notes and like the handwriting to text very much. The keyboard... not so much. Would one of these apps allow me to toggle between 7 notes and my Hackers keyboard, using the notification area? It's such a bother having to go back through settings all the time.
Answered my own question. Presently notification toggle and have the two shortcuts in the notification area. When I want to switch I just pop up the bar and tap the relevant icon.
