    wifi "booster apps" do they work/ how do they work

    One of the BIGGEST disappointments of Transformer Prime = WIFI+Bluetooth
    I was very frustrated with netflix errors while trying to stream bluetooth audio. It would also seem to cause any browser download to slow to slower than a snails pace with bluetooth on. Out of being VERY FRUSTRATED I tried this app and it actually seems to cut back on most of the problems;

    Questions;
    #1. Do all the version of asus tablet have these wireless problems or only prime?
    #2. Anyone else use this app what is the difference between it and pro?
    #3. Is this the best booster that is available?
    #4. How does it actually work?

    well...looks like I spoke/ typed to quick despite being almost physically "on top" of the devices I get cut outs of wifi and bluetooth audio drops galore. If anyone knows of something that WORKS let me know ...considering a $15 app but am wary of throwing $15 down the drain!

    I have tried some apps but none have really helped. Couple of setting changes may help. Seems the TF's like the mid-range channels... 4,5,6 may work better for you. You can also try setting your TF to a static IP. Let us know if these changes help.

    I suggest you download Wifi Analyzer from the Play store. It can tell you whether you have overlapping networks (your neighbor for instance), signal strength, and the best channel to use.

    Re: wifi "booster apps" do they work/ how do they work

    In truth, unless the app makes changes to the Tx (transmit) power these apps will be pretty worthless. No real way I am aware of for an app to improve Rx (receive) sensitivity. The only way to address that is to increase the Tx power on the transmitting device (well both devices but assuming the router is at max power). Signals are processed internally by the wifi device so an app will only get access after the fact which won't help. Basically unless the app has access to settings on your wifi card there is not much it can improve.

    The limiting factor is almost always the Tx power of the weakest of the communicating devices. There are some exceptions, very 'noisy' environments (lots of devices operating on frequencies/channel close to that of the wifi setup) is an example but that is a rare exception to this rule of thumb. However just knowing the Tx issue is where the limitations exist helps.

    Some things you can do to improve is relocating the router/access-point but when out and about not like we can do that. Metal frame walls also can be a problem. I notice some installers just don't care to check installs and put a router just anywhere figuring the next guy can fix it if needed.

    There are also cases where a device has a poorly routed internal wifi antenna or just a bad antenna so wifi issues will appear and be very frustrating to deal with. Also the TFP is an example of a design issue inducing wifi issues. Plastic cases generally do not cause probs but if thick enough or some formulation with some sort of metal in the mix can also be problematic.

    there is one app that claims improvement in all 3 areas (if your device has all 3; wifi, bluetooth+4g) it also is very costly at $15. android enhancer pro...is it a scam?

    That app developer has a few apps claiming to boost Wifi, GPS etc. Not many downloads and few comments about these apps. As pointed out by others in this thread the chances these apps work is extremely low. There are a few comments in the Play store stating these apps don't work. I would stay far away from apps like these.

    A piece of tinfoil folded over the right top of the TF201 is more likely to improve the signal.

    Easy WiFi Improvement
