How to Block unwanted and unsolicited Porno ads

    Hi,
I just bought a new Asus TF300T for my wife and she loves it. The only problem is she's getting unwanted popups. We also have grandchilden that visit and the idea of having to remember to put away the Tablet is absurbed. I assume ranting on Google will go nowhere. So How do I disable the App Store? And are there other Apps that will aid in restricting this unwanted stuff. I'm an old college grad that knows Unix and Linux well. Seems like Google is short changing the User Community on restricting access to Root. Even the folks in Redmond provide admin capabilities.

Assuming you have not upgraded to Jelly Bean you can root the tablet quite easily, and add an ad blocker to your list of apps.
Look for root debugfs or sparkyroot on xda forum.

Its odd that you are getting these anyways...

I have never had any unwanted stuff. I'm suspecting an app you have installed. I think there is an app in the play store that will tell you what apps are pushing adds to your tablet.

Certain apps can push adverts to your tablet. Even if you have only ever installed apps from the Play Store. There is advice on cleaning up & checking your device & blocking ads in the malware FAQ in my signature. Additionally, I would clear the cache, cookies etc from your browser/s & turn on the setting that blocks pop-ups. Finally, give your good lady a different & new e-mail address.

The best app I have found for finding what apps have Push Notifications is "Addon Detector".

Run it... wait for the "Scan" circle to light up, press "Scan", it scans your apps, then press "Addons" and change the "Filter" to "Push Notifications".

Then you may want to uninstall any apps listed that you think might be the source of your pop-ups. Or you could try apps one by one.
