Where does Polaris Office save documents??

This maybe part of the bug....

I got an attachment to an email on my Transformer Pad Infinity. I edited it using the 'pencil' icon and then clicked the 'disk' icon.

BUT, where is it now?? I looked in the file manager but nada.......

    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forum

My first thought is to look in the documents folder which is the default location for documents, BUT it could be where it was downloaded by your mail app, in downloads. You could use ES File Explorer to search for it.

Thanks, but excuse my ignorance, where is 'documents' ? - I opened file manager but there is no folder there called documents. I am in the /sdcard/ directory, is there somewhere else?

Open the file manager. It defaults to a screen that displays folders. The first ones in the display begin with "." then come the folders in alpha order. There you will find downloads and documents.

Aha, so its 'downloads' ? My file manager starts at / with removeable and sdcard, clicking the latter gets me to the alpha list and then 'downloads' is that the 'normal place'?? How do you create directories or folders??

Sorry to have so many questions - new to pads and finding it hard to get my head around some of the ways of doing things.

BTW, the document I was editing/saved isn't in downloads....... the bug??

Did you look for the document in "Documents"? Yes that is the normal thing to see when opening the file manager. I suggest you try ES File Explorer as it may display the folders in a way that makes more sense initially than the stock FM

As for creating folders, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Get a little more familiar with everything else first, but when you get to that point it's relatively easy.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have a sneaking hunch that the file was probably just saved into the email cache and is probably gone. Have you tried re-opening the attachment to see if the updates were in there?

And I would highly recommend not using polaris but switching to something more reliable like Kingsoft Office or the like, you will have far less issues.

Can't you just search for the filename?

Using the stock file manager search [ the "magnifying glass"] I searched for .txt as an example:

Many, many thanks for all the replies. I'll try to deal with them.

there is no folder called documents under downloads (or anywhere else, afaics); there are two folders called faq and manual and a doc I received a while back as an attachment and a pdf of a manual I downloaded.

No luck with a 'txt' search, BUT '.txt' produced 23 answers and then hung..... they were all the same date 15.6.2012, in various system folders......

The attachment is still there, in the email, the original

Looks like I shouldn't have started from the inbuilt stuff.....I've seen a lot of lists of 'the best' apps; I think I understand why??

    Again many thanks.

Thanks for the advices on various alternative apps.

Documents is NOT under downloads. It's in the same folder as the downloads folder.
