Hulu free on desktop, but not my tablet

How come some of the free video's I can watch on my desktop FOR FREE, but when I use my tablet, it tells me to buy Hulu plus at 7.95 a month?

I have my browser set to always request desktop site.

This has to do with the Android version of Flash still reports it as a mobile device.

Check out the app "Flash Video Browser" (costs $1) but you can watch Hulu on your android device for free other than the cost of the app.

However, Flash Video Browser does not support Jelly Bean. Wouldn't you think that Hulu would just give up on Flash since Adobe does not support it any longer? What about HTML5?

And this is one of the things that has me worried about upgrading to JB on my TF101 when it gets here. I think Adobe discontinued android FLASH support too quickly. AND that JB is ahead of it's time. AND the rest of the web hasn't caught up to just HTML 5 yet.

Either way, it means my browser and tablet experience may be less than it was under ICS. I know, you can side-load or keep what flash you have if you don't factory reset (I had to FR with ICS) and don't update Dolphin (my preferred browser). I really don't think I want to do work-arounds that will one day (soon, likely) quit working.

The sooner we get rid of Flash in favor of HTML5 the better

Considering more and more people are using tablet which no longer support it, the webmaster will soon have to do something about it....

it is a short term pain that it worth going through

I don't disagree with that at all. I just don't want to deal with the short-term pain. heh heh

Given that most people don't update and leave their machinery in the same state webmasters will have little incentive to move forward or make two versions of viewing environments, as the numbers of early-adopters, although vocal, will matter little. I agree that the transition devalues the tablet. For me it means waiting several more months (at least) before I update my TF101. I know my limitations: I can't do extra work to keep my TF101 in a suspended adolescent state to accommodate movie and TV viewing. So I was thinking of a TF700 to help me sell my photo services... might wait. Flash might be important to show images, too.

Re: Hulu free on desktop, but not my tablet

I'm not sure if this is a suitable solution, but for videos I cannot watch in my tablet, I just use splash top.

I always imagined watching video/TV/movie content on the TF101 would be a spontaneous event - not planned, although planning ahead for a plane or train trip seemed to make sense. But I never made any time for that kind of watching until the other day when I wanted to watch something on Hulu that can't be recorded on my TiVo. I was bummed that the DRM is so platform-dumb.

I looked for the "Flash Video Browser" mentioned above and could not find it in the store. Developer already pulled it before the Jelly Bean rollout?

    Any alternative? Thanks, in advance...
