PdaNet Tablet (Beta)

This is a tablet version of the extremely popular PdaNet software. It allows you to share the Internet access of an Android device with another Android device through Bluetooth. You should install this application on both the tablet and the phone. Then run client mode on a tablet and server mode on a phone. No rooting required. Connection speed should be very fast if your phone has good data service.

PdaNet works by setting the web proxy server on your tablet and route web requests to a Bluetooth DUN service. That means only applications that use web connections will work. On Honeycomb devices PdaNet supports Browser, Gmail and Map. For Android 2.2/2.3 devices PdaNet only supports the Browser app.

OK I installed PDANet on my phone and my Transformer and i turned WiFi off and Bluetooth on and this is really a cool way to surf the web for when I am out and about away from a WiFi signal. The only question I have is will AT&T be tracking the amount of data I use while on PDANet?

I think as long as you stay under the radar you'll be fine. Just watch your data usage... try not to go over 5GB in a month.

Didn't have much luck with this using my HTC Hero... maybe it's the version of Android I'm limited to. Was able to pair with my phone but was not able to actually access the internet.

I have the version 3.0 pdanet on my phone, and there is no option for "run as server", just "Enable USB TEther" or "Enable Bluetooth DUN", which, I've used (bluetooth), with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Replying using my unrooted Thunderbolt. Way to go pdanet! Was starting to lose hope. Only problem seems to be with Verizon's switching between 3g 4g. Promising!

Tried this unsuccessfully, reset the proxy settings and removed the app. Now I can't access My Apps in the market (Attention! A network error has occurred!) and Zinio can't access its server.

I doubt it's coincidence. Any ideas? I can't download a proxy-resetting app as My Apps doesn't work!

I think what I need to do is sideload AnyCut onto my tablet and configure it to give me a shortcut to the hidden proxy settings. Unfortunately, my current problem means I can't get it from the market. My searching for a downloadable version is proving fruitless - all roads lead to the market. Can anyone help me find a genuine anycut.apk to download? I'd rather not do a factory reset if I can avoid it.

Edit: never mind - managed to find a copy of AnyCut to sideload and fixed my problem.
