    Actually, this may not be entirely true. One of the trends this past year is stealth malware. Malware authors create perfectly normal, useful apps and publish them to, say, the Play Store. Since they are malware-free and useful, they're allowed and people download and install them. Then, at some time in the future, they issue an "update" but the update contains malware. Since the apps have been trusted so far, people install the update and are infected.

    How can .79*301 by called a "staggering" number? That's only about 240. There were more malware varieties than that for DOS by 1985.
